Not only did FDC help you find out that info, but I can pretty much bet that that show was taped by yours truly! :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris O'Malley http://www.fruvous.com 'Tattoo Fru' webmaster@fruvous.com "I like being a pretzel with you..." ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 22:46:09 GMT From: petit_chou@juno.com Subject: ATTN: Northwestern Fruheads (or whatever) Dear Fruheads, Frufans, Frunatics, Frulovers, Whatever... I'm Heather Moore. I posted a message a little while ago about the Vancouver show. For your information... Moxy Fruvous is playing at Richards on Richards (Richards St. is a small street in Vancouver, BC a bit south of Stanley Park). The date is 24 September. The doors open at 8pm. One must be 19 with valid ID to enter (expletive expletive expletive!) "Special Guest" is opening (more expletives!) The bastards at Richards on Richards are highly elusive, but I've managed to track down a rather detailed map which I will send to whomever needs it. Richards on Richards is a really posh club with two dance floors, four bars and a laser light system. Their Phone Number is (604) 687-6794. To get there, you can take Bus # 3 or 8, both of which go past the "long line of limos" outside. I HAVE THREE TICKETS THAT I NEED TO GET RID OF!!! I CANNOT GO! SOMEBODY BUY THEM PLEASE AND LET ALL MY RESEARCH GO TO SOME GOOD! I repeat, I have three General Admission tickets for sale for this concert. I need to sell them so at least SOMEBODY can go. Please? Hope this helps, Heather Moore petit_chou@juno.com _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Amy Schrader wrote in message ... >Ok, being bored the other day, I decided to look through my CDs and came >across the thank yous in Bargainville in which one of the lads gave thanks >to an "Ani D". Would this perhaps be in reference to Ani DiFranco? \ Hmmm, good question. I've noticed the reference to an Ani D. too, and I've wondered about the possible meaning behind it. Logistically, I don't think it would be possible. Bargainville came out in 1993, when Ani was around 16 years old. At that point, I *think* she was basically playing coffee shops in New York City. Meanwhile, Jian and Murray would have been about 25, and the others even older. Also, I assume that all four of them were living in Toronto. So I guess I don't see how they could have already met at that point. I'm an Ani D. fan, but not an Ani D. expert, so I might be making a few blunders. I'm sure there are people out there who could correct some of my mistakes. Oh, and, since we're on the topic of the Bargainville liner notes-I've always assumed that, from top to bottom, the thank you blurbs belong to Mike, Murray, Jian, and Dave. Does that sound logical to others? Sorry if this post is convoluted, I've been having trouble thinking clearly today. And to think the school year is only a few weeks old! I'm going to be a basket-case by mid-October:-). -----Gabby, who is only days away from seeing Moxy Fruvous for the first time in an actual, inside venue, and who could not possibly be more excited if she tried.----- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 19:42:20 -0400 From: "Thomas E Kiesling" Subject: Re: A question for all... For about 30 seconds, they actually had me fooled. Fruvous meets the mellower, "I just called to say I love you" Stevie Wonder. Scary. Actually, I would tend to think it IS Ani DiFranco that they thanked. Ani would have been around 22 or 23 in 1993. I'm still rusty in my Ani history (I'm working on it, though), so I don't know geographically whether she was in Buffalo or NYC at that time. There is a Fruvous/Ani connection (didn't she open for them?), but since I'm not the historian for either, I'm not certain what the connection is....anyone else care to contribute an intelligent answer, rather than my rambling hypothesizing????
