It's difficult to plan anything for a Thursday night, especially when I don't yet have word from my prospective employers whether or not I'll have a job by then.... (takes a moment to bang her head against the wall -- it's been a _long_ month) Does anyone have any further info on the Vancouver show? Time, address, phone number, anything? Last time I checked the Web site, it wasn't on there. - - j ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 14:33:03 -0400 From: "^kat^" Subject: how fortuitous... ... and what better place to share it than dear a.m.m-f, n'est-ce pas? i'm looking for some excuse not to write my nat'l honor society essay, so i see some bootleg tapes in need of screening for quality, setlist, etc. top of the pile was my copy of they might be giants's demo tape ('85). so, i've got it going in the background, i'm wondering why i traded for this, since virtually every decent demo was remastered on _then's_ bonus tracks... and then side A ends. i flip it... and out of nowhere, i hear "down from above." shocked, wondering if tmbg covered fruvous... i realize, no, this is *definitely* a fruvous concert on the flip side of tmbg's demo tape. what's most odd is that i acquired this tape months & months ago, before i'd even heard fruvous. i'd just never gotten around to listening to it till this afternoon. the most marvelous part is that i could use the resources available at my fingertips on fruvous dot com to determine the day & venue of the concert. :) i heard jian welcome syracuse, and scrolling down the list of live concert reviews, found that the first syracuse concert i came to (7/25/97) was indeed the set i'm hearing. *whew* that was a rambling post. :) but this was such a pleasant surprise, & made an otherwise mediocre bootleg outstanding. (i mean, i now have live copies of "kick in the ass," "it's too cold," and "incredible medicine show." that'd brighten *anyone's* afternoon.) retreating to the confines of microsoft word-- ^kat^ "dip into that great big cookie jar" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 19:16:09 GMT From: Amy Schrader Subject: another question.... Ok, being bored the other day, I decided to look through my CDs and came across the thank yous in Bargainville in which one of the lads gave thanks to an "Ani D". Would this perhaps be in reference to Ani DiFranco? Or am I just pulling stuff out of the air *looks up to the floating clouds*. Just a curious thought on a sunny day....... The new Frutripping page is now open. It also includes a 'Frülodging' section, as well, the idea brought to me by both Marie-Claude and Ben Cordes. At the time of writing this post, there are no posts on the page, but I'm sure there will be many in the near future. (possibly tonight!!!!) the address is... www.geocities.com/Heartland/Bluffs/2431/fruvous.html It kind of sucks at the moment, though... no graphics, and hardly any text, but there will be more text soon, and it'll probably not have graphics so it will load quicker (and because I'm a bit lazy) Adam/Scream Pickering, Ontario ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 15:22:04 -0500 From: Chad Maloney Subject: Re: A couple of questions A.J. Doug McClement is the Associate Producer and Engineer for Bargainville. In the credits for the song, it lists: Mike - Vocals, electric guitar, kabasa, money, flexi-tone Murray - Vocals, bass Jean (sic) - Lead vocals Dave - Vocals, accordian, sarcasm Doug McClement - disfunctional youth In my head, Doug "sings" the song and Jian has lead on the choruses. You can hear Jian singing and the spoken part on the choruses. Maybe I'm just really really messed up on this. I've always thought it wasn't Jian. It doesn't sound too much like Jian (though it sounds more like Jian than any of the others =). Oh, I don't know... - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 10:12:40 GMT From: gemini@p3.net (Trace) Subject: Re: A couple of questions On Tue, 15 Sep 1998 15:22:04 -0500, Chad Maloney wrote: >In the credits for the song, it lists: >Mike - Vocals, electric guitar, kabasa, money, flexi-tone >Murray - Vocals, bass >Jean (sic) - Lead vocals >Dave - Vocals, accordian, sarcasm >Doug McClement - disfunctional youth > >In my head, Doug "sings" the song and Jian has lead on the choruses. >You can hear Jian singing and the spoken part on the choruses. > >Maybe I'm just really really messed up on this.
