(And for the sake of some of the [often younger] residents of this group, I'd also include as Fruheads people who *want* to travel after Fruvous but haven't the ability, for whatever reason: lack of time, money, transportation.) One can like Fruvous very well but not be willing to roadtrip to see them, which makes one a Frufan. That's not intended to be a slur on people who don't enjoy roadtripping, nor is it intended to imply that they aren't "real" fans. I also know people who simply aren't comfortable with the term "Fruhead" for themselves, feeling it implies a degree of loyalty or fanaticism that they don't possess. Doesn't mean they like the music any less, just that they aren't predisposed to seeing the band live a whole lot. But in essence, it comes down to what people want to be called. I like being a Fruhead, I'm proud of the term, but I can understand that not every person who likes Fruvous is a Fruhead. ceecee, with an afternoon off. . . ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 16:59:31 GMT From: Irene Gaspar Subject: Amendment Hi folks, For what it's worth, I forgot a song in the setlist: Authors. Today, Tuesday September 15, marks the release of Susan Werner's new album, Time Between Trains. Many of you know Susan from the various festivals she's played. Susan's own description of Time Between Trains -- "This record is parked at the corner of Joan Baez and Cassandra Wilson." The album was produced by Nashville's Darrell Scott... Susan will be performing tonite (9/15) at the Borders Books and Music in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania at 8pm; all are welcome! The releases of Wood and B are imminent! Both should be in stores October 13; you can start pestering your local store next week. We now return to our regular programming..... Although I DO travel a lot to see Fruvous, I'm not entirely comfortable with the term Fruhead being applied to me. As she discussed (and no she wasn't referencing me), :) for me it carries a slight implication of fanaticism with which I'm not really comfortable. I don't mind the term being applied to me "loosely" (as I sometimes use it interchangably with frufan myself) but if you are going to draw a distinction between the two, then I am a frufan not a fruhead.
