Actually, I think Doug McClermont is the Angry Youth doing the main lyrics for Video B'ville on B'ville. I love his dead panned "pissed off the video man" a whole lot. I dunno if it sounds like Jeff Goldblum or not because I don't really have an idea of what Jeff Goldblum sounds like in my head. Oh well, I guess that means Doug McClermont is more famous in my head than Jeff Goldblum. What a weird head I have. But hey, I'm really good at entertaining myself. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: 14 Sep 1998 19:27:13 GMT From: fruhead1@aol.com (Fruhead 1) Subject: Maybe I didn't beg enough... Ok, I REALLY need a passenger for the NoHo shows! please! I mean common-people are always beggin' rides around here. I'm giving them away! I'm a very good driver... please... 'nuf begging. I heard on WXPN this morning that Susan Werner (Bottom Line Records) will be doing an in-store Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at the Bryn Mawr Borders to promote her new cd. The cd, "Time Between Trains," includes two songs that I heard for the first time last week: a absolutely gorgeous cover of Don McLean's "Vincent" and a fabulous song called "Like Bonsai" where a girl looks at the difference between her opportunities compared to her mother's. Hope to see some of you there. I also thought it was a "guest voice" on "Video Bargainville" and was quite puzzled to see on fruvous.com that the lead vocals on that were credited to Jian. And I'm also not sure that Jian is the streetcar driver on the album version of "Authors" -- it JUST DOESN'T SOUND LIKE HIM. (OTOH, I have no trouble at all imagining him doing the "King, how are you such a genius?" on "King of Spain.") Because I can't imagine how dull my life would be if I wasn't. :) I just can't find anything else that gives me the same pure and uncomplicated joy that a Früvous show gives me. Music in general is very special to me and has the power to just take my emotions hostage, and Früvous has that power 1000 fold. And they're the most eclectic and expressive band I have ever encountered. >> what's your favorite song by Fruvous I *know* I'm not alone in the fact that I just can't choose one. And if ever I think I can, I have to admit to myself it's only fleeting because there are too many wonderful songs competing for the spot. (i *hate* when lyrics are lost in a wall of guitars or shouting.) but more than that, they are humorous & inventive. (and very easy to sing along with -- an absolute must for any of my favorite groups (fruvous holds that position with tmbg & bnl).) finally, they're genuinely nice people who appreciate their fans, and that's wonderfully refreshing. alright, next question. >While we're at it, what's your favorite song by Fruvous? ooh, toughie. can i go on an album-by-album basis? bargainville: "fell in love" wood: "nuits de reve" b: "i love my boss" ywggtm: "no no raja" live noise: "message" a-cappella [subject to change w/o notice, as are many of these "favorite song listings" i've seen...] Who's your favorite non-Fruvous band or artist? well, i already answered this, but they might be giants & barenaked ladies round out my top three, with fruvous. tori amos, ben folds five and rem are also a-ok in my book. Whom would you most like to see open >for Fruvous? hmm... i'd go with great big sea, just 'cause i love the snippets i've heard via realaudio but i haven't been able to get an album yet. hearing them live could make up for that. :) Whom would you like to see >Fruvous open for? see the aforementioned two other favorite bands. that would be one *amazing* night... What's one thing you >DON'T LIKE about Fruvous? uhh... they're toronto-based, not dayton, ohio-based? ;p And finally, what's the >greatest thing about this newsgroup? why, the people, of course!! so friendly, so cheerful... and the fact that it's a never-ending font of information (as well as FDC, the most comprehensive band site i've come across thus far in my internet searches). thus concluding my wordy trip through my fruvousness, i'd like to put a plug in for my frupage: http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Stage/4014/moxy.html the pics take a bit of time to download, i'm afraid, but i like to think it's worth it. :) sign my guestbook, too, on my main page. it's gathering dust. time to go take a nap *sigh* -- ^kat^ "was it just a fool's impression? such an antiquated passion" ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #613 ********************************************
