A question I know a lot about! Dave and Mike (and occasionaly Jian and Murray) play two different accoustics (although I believe one is Jian's) Their main one is a Simon & Patric with rosewood back and sides, and a transparant pickguard. The other one, which I believe is Jian's, is another S&P with mahagony back and sides, and is autographed by Richard Thompson right below the bridge. This guitar, though, is more of a backup instrument in case something happens to the other one (broken string, etc.) My dad has owned a S&P (same as Dave/Mikes's except with maple back and sides) for about 3 years, and I must say that they are very nice instruments. I don't know nearly as much about electircs, so this section will not be nearly as long as the last one (for those of you who have read this far already, I hope you don't mind too much :) ). All I know really is that they play a red studio Les Paul, which they started using fairly recently (back in May, I think). Again, a very nice instrument. Well, that's about all I know, and probably more than you wanted to :) Ken, the enthusastic musician, with probably his longest post ever! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Sep 1998 13:10:42 GMT From: Marie.Claude@canada.com Subject: Re: Spruce Beer (was re: Canadian Cuisine) In article <01bddccc$95e9ab80$LocalHost@a1a38334>, "Arbie Fru" wrote: > Sounds similar to Retzina(sp?) that gawd-awful Pinesol wine that is a > always available in Greek restaurants. 'Cause it sounds a whole lot like it; birch beer (as I know it in Central NY) is a soda (not pop!) that tastes like a tree, i guess. Maybe it is the same thing with two names? later, tom. hKatherine@ehmail.com wrote: > Hey, don't be so quick to judge spruce beer, man. First of all, it's not alcoholized, second of all, it's very sweet and actually tastes GOOD despite the fact that it also tastes like a tree. If anyone wants, Ingrid and I could bring some to Noho (provided we have access to a fridge - warm spruce is different from cold spruce) What do you think? hKate - -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Sep 1998 01:19:36 GMT From: nafio@my-dejanews.com Subject: Re: local artists I'm not big on the Toronto music scene. I'm not a clubs/bars person, some of you know why. However one Toront artist I think a lot of you would like is Andrea Florian. I just found out that her second album has been out for nearly a year and I'm scrambling to get my hands on it. Andrea was a couple of years ahead of me at my high school, Student Council President, and one of my university friends drums for her on occasion. (Congas and bongos, not a drum kit) My aforementioned friend Ann bugged me into coming to Andrea's first performance at U of G. Another friend who was already a fan but couldn't make it gave me the album and requested I have Andrea sign it. (You have no idea how weird it is asking someone whose house you've been to parties at for her autograph.) I bought the first album, Truths, a few weeks later. I missed the second U of G performance 'cause I was at FruCon *g* I'm not great at describing people's sound.. she would certainly fit into the "category" folk, her lyrics are intelligent and sometimes thought-provoking. A lot of imagery, some feminism. She's a classically-trained pianist, self-taught guitarist and has a gorgeous voice. Anyway, if anyone wants to check her out it's http://www.electricgrape.com/andrea/ Fiona/Nafs - -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Sep 1998 15:09:39 GMT From: wcd98@my-dejanews.com Subject: All albums of legendary group DEPECHE MODE on 1 CD!
