I have the upmost respect for any who can rhyme a word like "Michigan". Has anyone listened to the RealAudio on FDC where Fru-lads talk about "stretching their rhymes"? If not, you must-it's interesting. Some improvizational rhyming from Dave which is *very* funny:-)! -----Gabby----- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Sep 1998 15:17:18 -0500 From: Chad Maloney Subject: Re: Other local-ish Bands Duncan wrote: > I think GBS has released an album in the US... it is kind of a 'greatest > hits' album of all their songs that have only been released in Canada. It's a Best Of with tunes from Up and Play almost exclusively (if not completely exclusively). There are 3 Canadian releases that I know of, a self-titled, Up, and Play. I recommend Up as the my favorite. It has my favorite GBS song on it (and that song is missing from Rant & Roar). For more GBS info, check out http://www.greatbigsea.com. They are playing around the midwest soon and it'll be neat to see some Fruheads out there. I'll be in Cincinnati (Top Cats, Sept 24th) and Columbus (Little Brothers, Sept 21st) and maybe Champaign (The Office, Sept 25th) as well. Anyways, I saw Rant & Roar at borders in the Celtic section of the Internation Section of the CDs... - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Sep 1998 21:12:53 GMT From: wahrend@my-dejanews.com Subject: Re: upcoming concerts... Just wondering.. :) Anyhow, thanks > again, I'll see ya in Kentucky! > -- yeah, thanks and I blew away the nice lady when I gave her my Texas mailing address. She was like "you're driving from texas??!!" and I was like, "of course not, I'm only driving from Chicago". That didn't seem to phase her as much, so maybe one of you guys got to her first ;). But, I must say, she was a heck of a lot nicer than the ticketmaster ops that I have been dealing with lately. BTW: how far away is Bloomington from chicago? I don't think that I will be able to leave until 5-ish (well, maybe before then, but w/o my crystal ball I'm a little lost) so if it is a good 4 hr trip minus traffic, I may end up showing up late for that show. Does anyone know if tickets will still be available for Halloween night throughout the next few weeks at least? I'm holding out to see if my gf will be around, and if so, I'll try to get tix, again, if they are available. My plan would be to recruit my friend, Rob, to join us and get Monopuff tickets for their show in New York City Friday night. Then stay at his apartment in Manhattan and make the drive up on Saturday. Then, after the concert, drive back down to Manhattan (which might be rather hellish that late at night). I guess I'll just have to call for tickets in a few weeks if things are looking good! I don't know where the first is from, but the second comes from an explanation of the meaning of the word Fruvous from some show (don't remember which exactly, sorry). I think Dave's explanation is that Fruvous is a speed on a blender. It goes from mix to puree and what's beyond puree? Fruvous! This got the guys joking about that and Mike tosses in "Who fruvoused the cat?" and I think Murray says something about "There's whiskers in the fruit" or something. All in all, very funny indeed. - Chad ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #436 ********************************************
