Well, Bill, FDC has 19+ because bars are 19+ in Champaign, so worst case it will be 19+ (more than likely). That's a guess... I'll be there, so you, me, and Angel can have some Arkansas flashback times and work on our Porn music singing. I don't remember any of of the new version of Message though (I think that is a good thing). I'm gonna try and talk some people I know from U of I to go too. It should be a good crowd, and nice without the bottle clanking that affects Mabel's. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Sep 1998 17:47:39 GMT From: nafio@my-dejanews.com Subject: Re: Fw: F&F for C (was Re: FruCon II) In article <6sohjj$b90$1@nnrp1.dejanews.com>, richardbutterworth@my-dejanews.com wrote: > Oh, I tried so hard not to get too involved in this thread, I really did, > but... > > ourhamster@aol.com (OurHamster) wrote: > > >Also, another misconception is that we "right-of-moderate"s are upset that > >Fruvous is forcing us to attend a pro-choice show. I realized a few hours later that Chris had posted details about FruConII earlier that day and if I had checked there again instead of asking everyone, this wouldn't have started, much less gotten way out of hand. You know, the whole thing is funny, but the funniest part of it for me is that Mike says "In 17(?)4, Mozart releases the Magic Flute" (I don't recall the actual number and I don't even remember if it is consistent between shows). Mike makes it sound like there was a big party at Mozart's Record Label and it was a screamer up the charts. Or maybe I'm just reading between the lines too much again. I just laugh because I don't imagine it as releasing a symphony. You compose it. It can be debuted. But releasing? It's just funny. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Sep 1998 18:09:02 GMT From: nafio@my-dejanews.com Subject: Re: NoHo no go? If anyone's looking for a motel where a fair number of Früheads are also staying, Ceecee (bless her!) has booked nine of us into 2 rooms at Motel Six in South Deerfield. (about 12 miles from Northampton according to MapQuest) I don't know how many more we can manage to squeeze in, and I also have no idea what the place is like. However the rooms are apparently $61 US plus tax per night, and the # is (413) 665-7161 if people want to book a third room. If it happens in ohh say.. July '99, I wouldn't object at all. My cousin's getting married so I have to go back to Scotland. Frütripping around the island would certainly be a way of finally seeing somewhere other than just Glasgow and Dumbarton every time I go visiting. Ah, so have I, but then again, I wasn't following this thread too closely because I figured it would degenerate into a finger pointing contest. Personally, I don't see what the big stink is about; maybe I am just being dumb but Fru-con weekend is not centered around F&F for C, so if you're against the pro-choice concert, don't go (how's that for a run on sentence, take that grammarians!). There are two other concerts that weekend, plus fru-con. Toronto is a huge city w/ lots of interesting and fun things to do, I am sure that there is something that is worthwhile besides the concert going on. > ourhamster@aol.com (OurHamster) wrote: > > >Also, another misconception is that we "right-of-moderate"s are upset that > >Fruvous is forcing us to attend a pro-choice show. It is too bad that that it is a pro-choice show and that this is causing a moral dilema for you (FruRepublicans/FruConservatives). I think it matters little if it comes from a liberal like myself or not. I don't believe the "left-of-moderate" frus have to make an argument for you. Either stand up for what you believe in or don't. If you can go to the concert and still hold on to your belief system, more power to you. If you can't, then its really too bad because you're going to have to make a choice like it or not. Beliefs are tough and having the strength to back them up is even tougher. I now have Green eggs and ham and the love potion medley on tape, which is cool. After BJ don't cry the set rocked. I didn't see 'em at penn's landing, soI can't complain that much about parts of the set removed. The bad: no improv, few hippy on the post refrences, all the songs aired I knew and most I had on CD, except GE+H and love potion medley. There were none of the little improvs which i already mentioned, but that's what I'm most angry about. The one time i saw 'em live, August second, there were lots of new songs and improv. Oh well. I'll just wait for wood and the b album to be released in The USA.
