But what makes all of this so damn annoying is that a) we weren't "moshing". Thus the term "mosh pit" was hardly appropriate. b) McKinnon kept contradicting the other host (who's name I forget), who kept saying that there was no problem with us dancing in front of the stage. c) he STEPPED *ON PURPOSE* ON MYLLIE'S HAND so she wouldn't get the setlist. And I also heard that someone HAD a setlist in his/her hand and was told to put it back, that it didn't belong to him/her. Hmph! d) the next night, for Arlo's performance, they put TRAFFIC CONES exactly where we had been the night Fruvous played. There you go. If you don't want us to dance, SAY SO. Plain and simple. We all stayed seated at Summerfolk.... and e) like hKath's dad so eloquently pointed out, we're "part of the act". Now I don't know how far you can stretch that statement, but it certainly seems true when it comes to folk fests. We Fruheads WERE a good half of the said Act in Burk's Falls! I promised myself I'd put my two cents in this whole Chopper McKinnon issue. "Moron" the rest of the fest in another post! Marie-Claude aka Ingrid "I paid for that feeling. I was glad it came back for free!!" - -- Arlo Guthrie, Ottawa Folk Fest '98 But. *BUT*. McKinnon said there was going to be a dancing area next year. It wasn't clear what time, but I think they said that it was on the schedule for the World Cafe those two days, and the World Cafe starts at 2:00pm. So, since Fruvous played the second day, then I would assume that their part of the broadcast would be on Friday afternoon. If my work schedule permits, I'm going to try to tape this, but I'm sure there are others out there who are already on it! Just wanted to post the alert -- For more precise info, the WXPN studio phone number is (215) 573 - WXPN (9976) -- I'm sure they have exact air times. I, for one, can't wait to relive the experience through the magic of radio - --especially since it will probably be my only frufix for quite a while, considering their schedule :( - --amy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 01 Sep 1998 15:26:49 GMT From: wahrend@my-dejanews.com Subject: Re: yet another newbie post! Oh, blimey, I'd forgotten this but it all comes flooding back now. They did Starman in Britain all those years ago. It all seemed a bit off the cuff, Mike (I think) started playing it and the rest of the band looked confused then they stopped, there was a round of `Do we know how to play this?' looks, some apprehensive nods and then they launched into it, note perfect I believe.
