After so many well-wishes and hugs, both real and irc/NG, I thought that the support for my hard time with Meatball and her passing was done. But no..... Today I was shocked, honored, and so very heartwarmed to receive a card from Mary, Misty, George, Trace, Kumar, Adam, and Jeff sending warm thoughts, hugs, and even help with the vet bills. I could nto beileve my eyes. I raced immediately to the irc channel, where I told those around that I could NOT accept it...but I was given no choice. Now I am crying, you louts! (No, not lauts, either....) Thank you...i only hope I can be there when all of you need it. Last time I did (at the SoNo Arts show) they picked me out from stage and gave me shit about not having been at any recent shows. Mike commented that what I was doing was illegal, which seemed to attract the cops' attention more than if I had been carrying a small machine gun. So that's it for me... no more... ... yeah right. ;) If you have a digi cable, bring it. I will be studying & working at a kibbutz in the poor section of Jerusalem, where they do community service instead of farming (hard to farm in the thick of Jerusalem). Thanks to all shows of support! I feel so loved. BUT! This need not be the end of the beetle. I will be recieving my sister's hand-me-down laptop & will most prolly get myself reconnected ircly & ngly just like old times. The only thing I don't know is how much time I'll have to feed my addiction. How am I doing right now? Eeeg, don't ask. I am not at all packed & don't know how I will get my large collections of t-shirts & posters feasibly to Israel. But I have a suitcase that rolls (almost as good as a stereo that rocks) & I trust in God & I'm gonna be OK. Thanks everyone for my first fabulous Fruvous year! Many more! I don't think it >showcased them as well as Live Noise does for Moxy. One reason? the banter all >snipped for a hidden spot at the end of the cd? this almost offends me. BNL >shows are all about having fun and going off on improv banter & songs (like >Moxy). And what WAS there was VERY minimal. Also the recording length plays >more like an instore than a concert.. without BNL tv they could have put a lot >more on there; or should have made it a double cd. > >I have bootlegs that represent them better. >. . . . . . . Oh don't get me wrong, I'm in agreement with the fact that they should've canned the multimedia and put more songs on there, but I think that BNL is trying to reach a much wider and probably less patient audience than is Moxy (not that they don't want to sell albums, they just have a different perspective than do BNL). While we hardcore fans who go to show after show really want to hear the inbetween chatter than make a show so special, the audience that BNL wants (ie. mainstream USA) might not be so tolerant of that, no matter how funny it is. Many of my friends who I tried to get into Moxy and BNL by lending them the live albums took an instant liking to BNL and thought the banter was non-invasive being at the end, while they hated having to skip the tracks on Live Noise because once they'd heard them once, they didn't want to hear them again. Are these my feelings? Absolutely not! But I think the general public does feel this way, and also I guess it's "hip" to put gigantic multimedia wastes-of-space on the CD in the late 1990's. If you've heard (or attended) the Met Cafe MF show this past December, you'll remember the guy who was yelling out for them to "just play some **** music". Well, as rude of a jerk as this guy was, I'll bet there were more people there who had never seen (or heard) of them before who felt the same way. Maybe this is why BNL did what they did, because they are obviously trying to take over the airwaves with a large audience, which is good for them if that's what they want. I guess the point I was trying to make was that what WAS there was very representative of 1997 BNL touring as far as the music goes. Well recorded, very well played, and good selections. That was my problem with TMBG's Severe Tire Damage; not necessarily what WAS there, but that what WAS there represented them kind of poorly. Oh well, who cares really. I still love all three bands and I too have bootlegs that I prefer more, not just for BNL but for Moxy and TMBG too!
