TMBG's is more like a greatest hits with a few new songs and, surprize surprize, most of them were recored live..... Moxy is trying to give the feel of a actually live concert with impromptu banter and even a song (I was at that concert... ARIZONA!!).... I think they both are good... they are like my children... well, I don't have children... like my pets... you can't choose favorites... >i think that one of severe tire damage's pitfalls is the obvious omission of >the audience I kinda like it... IMO you can't really compare them. >. . . . . . . >*sarah >linnellgirl@tmbg.org >http://lava.home.ml.org And I value your opinion :) But here's mine anyway heh heh heh: I sort of agree that you can't compare a live album from MF with a live album from TMBG, but what I do think you can do is compare the quality of the live album with the quality of the live show. In other words, are you getting on disc something similar to what you get in person. In the case of MF and to an extent BNL, I would say yes. Even though the BNL album is short, both albums really represent the high quality shows of the respective bands. I've been to over 10 TMBG shows and I've enjoyed everyone of them and expect to see 10 more and 10 more again if I get the chance. But to me, the Live Album is a very poor representation of the quality of a TMBG show. There's no consistency throughout the tracks, the song order seems random if anything, and what you really end up with is a "Best Of" collection with new versions of songs and a couple of new tracks to give you something until the next full album. I think I would've rather had an EP of the new songs and maybe a couple of the better tracks from the album. She's An Angel, one of my favorite songs by TMBG, is just abominable, but Why Does The Sun Shine is superior to Live In NY, which incidentally I like far better than STD. It's too bad that album wasn't released and is so hard to get (I got really lucky.) In summary, MF and BNL gave me what I expected from THEM. TMBG did not meet up to what I know they are capable of. Jian mentioned at one of the FruMiles weekend shows that they are hoping to spend some time in the studio in early spring for a late spring release. Of course I'm sure that is still extrememly tenative at present. jordan - -- There was a man who entered a local paper's pun contest.
