Hi, if any of you cared, I know a bit about the song Brisco Bandito(my next challenge is to get all the right constenents(sp?) on the title. Murray has a friend who has a cottage on the south side of Kawagama lake, a medium-sized lake near the Lake of Bays and Dorset, Ontario. He spends some of his time up there, which is cool, because my cottage is just a few kms away. I learnt this while chatting with Murray in Owen Sound. Actually I asked Dave about it first and he said he had no idea so now I guess you guys know more about a MF song than one of its members! My order goes LN, RS, and STD. Live Noise is probably as close as you can get to releasing a Live Album that really represents the quality of the live show while limiting it to one CD. The tracks are well organized and of course the inbetween banter that we know and love from Moxy Fruvous is a very integral part of the recording. The shows were all recorded around the same time period, and while I typically prefer to hear a whole single concert, this is almost never the case in an official live recording. In short, I feel that it's both complete enough for the fans and interesting enough to keep a new listener's attention. Rock Spectacle has some GREAT tracks as far as the songs go. Unfortunately, Nettwerk artists have this thing for Multimedia tracks which I seldom view more than once. Personally, I think they should've had more songs and banter comparable to LN and should've skipped the multimedia. Despite this, though, the tracks are well recorded and also have the continuity of being recorded around the same time. It still feels like a live, albeit short, show. On to STD. My biggest complaint is the fact that these songs come from many different tours, have combinations of past and present band members, and because of this the album doesn't flow at all. The new tracks should've been saved for a new album if they weren't live. I also agree that many of the songs sound as if they are only live to the point where they were played and recorded in one take, but not necessarily in front of an audience. Finally, for what little banter there is, the tracks sound like >I< recorded them off of my Aiwa recordable tape player with a microphone clipped to my lapel. I love TMBG and I love their live shows, but this album doesn't do much for me. I think one of the most miserable examples of a live album has to be "Songs of Faith and Devotion Live" from Depeche Mode. In a nutshell, it's the same tracks in the same order as "Songs of Faith and Devotion" but recorded at various shows on their tour for the album. Talk about boring! Besides that, the audience wasn't recorded so some of the songs have blank spots when David Gahan has the audience singing. A true shame from a band that put out Depeche Mode 101, a great live album in my opinion, and puts on an extremely entertaining and invigorating arena show.
