I My apologies - but if you've seen the video - it's these clean-cut teenagers, singing harmonies...well, I guess that could describe a lot of groups, not just BSB...but that *is* the generalizations the papers and such have made. For the record, I can't stand BSB, N Sync, etc (and trust me, you do not know pain until you have sat watching your 3 housemates try to learn the steps to Backstreet's Back for an hour and a half!!!!!!). But I digress and change the topic.... : It is a really cute song which nearly made me drive my car off the road : the first time I heard it because I was laughing so hard... I can just : imagine the looks on the faces of the Fru-lads as they sing it! :) That's totally what I was thinking of - again, in the video, there's something about the way the group members interact that remind me of Frvuous - it's four friends out for a good time (not 5 guys put together by some manager type...) _______ The secret of life: breathe in, breathe out, repeat. ------------------------------ Date: 25 Aug 1998 15:24:18 GMT From: dot0926@aol.com (Dot0926) Subject: Re: cover tune wish list > Revell Sara E <4ser4@qlink.queensu.ca> wrote: >Has anyone else heard "It's Just my Luck" by a group >called V.I.P.? They were cleaner, had >more energy, and *felt live*. Yup, but with Fruvous'...well, it feels more complete than Rock Spectacle. Live Noise had a track listing that covered most of the songs I would've wanted on there, but Rock Spectacle was too short and didn't seem to have but a third of the songs I would've wanted to see on a live album. RS should've been a double CD, or they should've scrapped that bloated multimedia section. - -Adam ------------------------------ Date: 25 Aug 1998 15:17:43 GMT From: dot0926@aol.com (Dot0926) Subject: Re: Thoughts on TMBG's new live album vs. Moxy Fruvous' new live album >"Neil Kelly" wrote:>I dunno, I was just listening to TMBG's Severe Tire Damage and Moxy Fruvous' >Live Noise and was struck by the differences between them. I guess I'm just very >dissappointed in the Johns right now. i have both albums, and as always, an opinion :) i think that one of severe tire damage's pitfalls is the obvious omission of the audience. live noise truly captures the essence of a fruvous show, complete with banter (i think its wonderful that the lads decided to include it on live noise) and audience participation ( boo time, lowest highest point, kos, message, psycho killer- perhaps unintentionally but there via the phantom note- and the drinking song) and response. when i heard that tmbg's new one was going to be a live album, i was so excited. in the span of mere months, my two favorite bands were putting out live albums, and i expected std to live up to live noise. i think that is the problem, if taken alone, std is a pretty decent album, but when compared to live noise, it just doesnt measure up. yes, i too was expecting much more from the johns. oh well. - -nora (the packing machine) ********************* "it's ever so jolly just being a frog" - -kermit (from the frog prince) nora cohen (dot0926@aol.com) snafru on irc **************** ------------------------------ Date: 25 Aug 1998 16:19:08 GMT From: blinerecs@aol.com (BLineRecs) Subject: Re: cover tune wish list/6 degrees of separation >Also, "Killing Me Softly With His Song" (Roberta Flack, recently redone the >past couple years) is written about Don McLean. Roberta Flack did not write "Killing," nor did Gimbel & Fox, who are credited as the writers. Lori Leiberman wrote "Killing" immediately after having seen McLean in concert in Los Angeles (at the Whiskey, I believe). She subsequently recorded it, in the process signing away the publishing rights to Gimbel & Fox. Her version of the song (which I think is by far the best version) was available for a couple of months, when Roberta Flack heard it, loved it, and decided to record it herself. > >As I was trying to remember which song I was thinking of, I found a site that >overwhelmed me with info on this song. I'm always welcome to different versions of songs. I personally don't really regard Severe Tire Damage *as* a live album. I think of it more as "lucky to have anything new at all" (while we wait for the 2 TMBG releases in '99!). Maybe as even an EP - Apes, Dr. Worm, 'Tire Damage Theme, etc. Hell, the apes tracks are worth it alone. :) (or, i dunno, maybe it's the fact that singing 'em loudly with your friends as you walk around NYC makes it that much more fun ;) try it! "all my FRIENDS are.... beneath... the planet of the apes..... ESCAPE! from the PLANET of the APES!" sorry.. :)) so yeah. i can't think of anything else. but...
