Otherwise, I can't see a reason that it wouldn't have been on B-sides or Live Noise - it's popular and they still play it - so either of those would have been good places to put it. : So here's a question for the general public - would it be morally : reprehensible for an indie holder to offer GE&H to one who has never heard : it, holds all other albums and can't get a hold of the indie? I can't see why not - it's not available - and besides, if there are kids involved, I think it would be a great song (aside from the use of the word "damn" depending on how strong you feel about that as a bad word - not to go back to *that* topic again!).... I'm so sorry about your pet...it's difficult to lose an animal that you love and care about....and no, you're not being overly dramatic. :) After my dog was put to sleep in 1993 - He was 13.5 years old -- I'm an only child, and my dog was considered my *brother* :) - I was given this to help me cope. (I still cry every time I read it -- but it's such a lovely little story.) Take Care. Christine. - --Chrissy_K on irc - ---------------------------------------------- Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER..... ------------------------------ Date: 22 Aug 1998 00:31:54 GMT From: fruwench@aol.com (FruWench) Subject: Re: Kermit >As far as I'm aware, there are no indies to be had any longer, and GE&H >was only released on that tape. I'm printing it out and saving it (hopefully for a very long time since my fluffy one is only a year old). Right after I had my baby (and I admit I'm running the risk of becoming that annoying poster who always mentions her kid so I promise no more Dana stories after this for awhile), I would have sworn that I was anything but post-natal bluesy, however one day I read in Ann Landers (maybe Dear Abby) this poem about a dog who died and waited patiently at the gates of Heaven every day until his/her master/mistress arrived. Well, I sat there at the breakfast table, cuppa French Market in hand, crying my eyes out. This reminds me very much of that poem but written more beautifully rather than saccharinely.
