I need help and I figure one of you Fruheads must know the answer: I found a tape in my collection that I taped off a friend. It was a concert that Fruvous gave in Peterborough, and was broadcast on Trent Radio (and thus, the tape, has a really annoying announcer girl giving commentary every once in a while). I am trying find out the date of this concert and was wondering if anyone knew. I am guessing it is somewhere around 1992 - since they open with "Peace of Mind" and instead of asking to "buy their new CD", they are promoting their "six dollar tape". Also, it must be fairly before the idea of Bargainville came up, since they don't introduce any of their songs with "here's a song on our upcoming CD", or anything like that. Can anyone out there give me a date on this thing? Is it only available on the unavailable original indie tape? I'm afraid I have nothing to barter with (unless you want a tape of Dana playing her vintage Ludwig sparkle drum set and singing her Looney Toons version of KOS -- "Once I was the cat of spain, now I eat Tweety Pie"). Along those lines (the ones that see me trying to experience Fruvous vicariously) are any videos actually available to the public? I see them offered throgh Frumiles but not through the merchandise list on the website. Any input or advice would be appreciated. And by the way, to those lucky folks heading to Iron Horse, think of me while you're there and if you have a few minutes free, head over to Amherst and have a drink and a popover at Judie's. I spent four years there (of which I actually remember bits and pieces) and would love nothing more than to be going up for the two shows, but alas, am committed to dressing five 7-year-olds up as Spice Girls. I just spent a chunk of time yesterday listening to a Sonia Dada album (A Day At The Beach), "Lester's Methadone Clinic" in particular. I think Fruvous could do it most killingly. It kinda sounds like them. VERY obscure, I know... I know next to nothing about this kind of thing and really don't want to have to ask my graphic designer here at work for advice. - --Adam adam.hartfield@dev.artioslink.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Aug 1998 20:56:18 GMT From: AngeHalo1@aol.com Subject: Re: New pin prototype I have to say that I think the third prototype is the best, even 4 is ok. I heard an interview back with the guys in '93 when B-ville was released, and their reasoning at the time was that "It had gotten mouldy". Which is too bad, 'cause it's a really cute song. So here's a question for the general public - would it be morally reprehensible for an indie holder to offer GE&H to one who has never heard it, holds all other albums and can't get a hold of the indie? Just a thought... :) Veronica - -- ***************************************************************************** And in the end | Veronica Gruneberg The love you take | Dept. of Biology Is equal to the love | Queen's University You make... | Kingston, Ontario ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #332 ********************************************
