I've never heard the original "Psycho Killer", so I can't really comment on that. I would love to see Moxy Fruvous do more TMBG covers...like maybe "Lie Still, Little Bottle", with MIke on lead? I think that would make for a cool moment! -------Gabby------- "...And I keep hearing that same damn song everywhere I go!" --Ani Difranco, "Little Plastic Castles" ------------------------------ Date: 20 Aug 1998 14:56:52 GMT From: Gruneberg Veronica J <6vjg@qlink.queensu.ca> Subject: Re:What I learned in Toronto Thanks! You beat me to posting the website. (Perhaps I should learn from Novac and start reading my posts... or thinking before I speak, whatever comes first.) Yes, absolutely check out www.arrogant-worms.com Also, check out their original (but slightly more unofficial) website. The URL is long and complicated, and I couldn't even begin to remember it if I tried, but if you go to A-W.com and choose the links page, it's there (it's even near the top of the page) The site has sound clips, tour info, their videos (think shrunken thumbnail... I thought they were kidding when the said it was small.) Very much worth the trip. :) Veronica (so glad to find a multitude of people who share my taste in music... the one everyone else I know terms "odd"!) - -- ***************************************************************************** And in the end | Veronica Gruneberg The love you take | Dept. of Biology Is equal to the love | Queen's University You make... | Kingston, Ontario ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Aug 1998 16:09:28 GMT From: nnicole11280@my-dejanews.com Subject: Adventures in Lawbreaking Hello Just thought you'd all like to know: My sister's expired ID plus a plausible story ("My wallet got stolen, but I managed to find an expired version of my driver's liscence... Please? It's all I've got...") did, in fact, get me into the 21+ EFO show at Henfling's. So it does work. *happy* Now I need to work on the nervousness thing (my hands were noticeably shaking as I presented the ID.) Ironically, it wound up being a moot point, since the band snuck us in through the back upon hearing of our plight (my best friend Jessica had no ID and they wouldn't let her in.). (Damn, says Nicole to herself, but that was nice of them.) Great show, too! :) I would like to casually slip into the Frü-show with a group, for the excellent reasons pointed out previously (less likely to scrutinize ID, etc.) but it's probably too early to start planning things out in such detail. Asking someone to pose as my guardian probably won't work--I think that clubs get in trouble if they so much as let a minor (or miner or maybe even Niner) on the premises. Thank you all *so* much for your help and support! :) It's made a huge difference for me. :) :) :) - --nicole the wonder nerd - -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum ------------------------------ Date: 20 Aug 1998 16:48:23 GMT From: jsmooth69@aol.com (JSmooth69) Subject: Re: Moxy on the Radio If you can get any other Toronto station, Mix <<99.9 might play them a bit more. They play most single releases, Get in the Car and River Valley immediately come to mind as having enjoyed regular airplay. Can't think of anything that they've played from Live Noise. But, I don't listen as frequently anymore. Hope this helped, Sigrid>> Thanks, I'll try and see if I can get it to come in at all. A friend of mine said that they are occasionally played on 101.7. I don't know where that station is located, and only faintly get it in my car. Oh well. I expect to be putting a few more prototypes there within the next week. - --Adam adam.hartfield@dev.artioslink.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Aug 1998 12:26:05 -0600 From: "Gabby" Subject: Re: Thanks and questions BBWMinors@aol.com wrote in message <8e2297f0.35dc2629@aol.com>... > >I do have one question and one addition/comment, though ... > >Q) Who does (or if it's more than one of them, who do) the voices such as: , "Kermit" in KOS? > Hey Lisa, glad you decided to de-lurk yourself and post again! Now, to your Kermit question...are you thinking of the line, "King, how are you such a genius?" That's the most Kermit-like voice in the song, as far as I can figure. The silly voice distribution in that part of the song is like this: Jian: King, how are you such a genius?! Murray: There's a roof overhead- Mike: and food on our plates! I hope this helps! Yeah, I'd been thinking about it for a while, and then one night on IRC just happened to mention it. Presto chango! Into the FAQ it goes. :) > And on a completely other note... Sorry, I can no longer afford to be a fruvous fan... > I'm going to have to quit my job and follow the Junkies around instead... > Margo's voice is like being dipped in warm honey. *sigh* Yes, like warm honey...I love the CJ, but at times they need a Kick In The Ass. Some uptempo stuff would be nice. Not that the slit-my-writs music is bad - in fact, it's quite nice - but their albums depress me. But anyone who does a cover of "Walkin' After Midnight" is A-OK in this hoss' book. Now, how about a CJ/Fruvous collaboration? With The Nields in there somewhere, too? Yes? > *grin* oh wait, anyone who's heard them already knows that... > and anyone who hasn't should make a point of going out and finding something of > theirs. Immediately. I have several of their CDs, which are quite handily cataloged at the same web site as the pin prototype! What a coincidence.... :) I think we're going to have lots of listening parties come Halloween. - --Adam adam.hartfield@dev.artioslink.com p.s.
