On a somewhat related note, my little sister swears Fly was her favorite song when she was younger & it was on the radio a lot, despite my protests that it was never released in the United States (it's true that she told me this right after hearing it played at our first concert & it is also true that I was able to remember how it went which is hardly *ever* ever the case after hearing a song once) & that this is impossible. Back me up? How about any WCBE listeners: was Fly ever played there? Miriam Beetle Libicki I saw _Ever After_ last night & though I don't remember any quotable lines, the protagonist's rival was the princess of Spain & when ever anyone said "The King of Spain", I & my sister bust out laughing. They showed him once, but unfortunately he didn't look a thing like Dave. - -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum ------------------------------ Date: 18 Aug 1998 21:56:32 GMT From: ourhamster@aol.com (OurHamster) Subject: Re: Canadian customs >Yes, yes!! Adjective, adverb...learn the difference! Another one that isn't as annoying (but only because it's harder to see which is proper) is the difference between "farther" and "further". - --Novac "An egoist is a person of low taste, more interested in himself than me." -- Ambrose Bierce ------------------------------ Date: 18 Aug 1998 21:51:46 GMT From: ourhamster@aol.com (OurHamster) Subject: Re: Fw: F&F for C (was Re: FruCon II) >The reasoning would go >something like this: "well, they only make a very small portion of >their income from me personally, and only a small percentage of that >is used for this cause, so it is not like I am really supporting their >cause, I'm just going to the show." >Personally, I can respect such a decision. Though your assumptions about my reasoning is not quite accurate, this point is exactly my point (but I don't much care about how dolphin-safe my tuna is, that's a whole other hotbed all together :) I'm not sure if giving as much or twice as much to an opposing cause will necessarily make everything better. To illustrate, let's take this concept to something more extreme: 1st degree homicide. If I intentionally kill someone, it doesn't make it all right if I go out and save 2 people to counterbalance that, y'know? I've still taken the life of that first person, and I'm still morally responsible for that. - --Novac "An egoist is a person of low taste, more interested in himself than me." -- Ambrose Bierce ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Aug 1998 21:59:31 GMT From: nafio@my-dejanews.com Subject: Re:Newbie Here's an offer: I'd be happy to buy both b and Wood for any British Frühead who could get me a copy of Diane Duane's new one, "On Her Majesty's Wizardly Service" which just came out in the UK and won't be available here for quite some time. Just say the word before the Iron Horse show at end of October. (I refuse to buy older Früvous albums from stores here - they sell for nearly $25 apiece) Any takers?
