My very first taste of live Fruvous was in August of '94 at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh: they came out and sang the "Buy Our Disc" intro (which they haven't done in a while, even with a new disc out. . .hmm.), with the lyrics ending in something about they're so sick of hearing about it so they poisoned the Newcastle Brown. Well, *I* thought it was funny. . . >Okay, here's a question for The Guardian of Taping Ethics (cough, that's you >cee). Er. . .um. .. uh, when did I get that designation? Um, What Jordan Said. That. I have no idea how long it would take to get the albums, but they can indeed be had. And at the very worst, you could pick up the discs for Jane while over here in October and mail them to her when you get back to England. A bit complicated, but if one really does care about the ethics of copying Fruvous's work wholesale for someone else. . . > Of course if they actually released stuff over here that's >another story. If it was a commercial statioin, I could see WBRU 95.5FM playing them. They're a great station, playng alternative, or rather an alternative to mainstream commercial radio long before anyone even coined the phrase. I'm now curious to hear who was playing them. You'll have to visit the Canadian Internet CD stores for "Wood" or "b". Any nearby Fruheads interested in doing a coffee thing, do feel free to pop in to the Second Cup located on the Danforth between Broadview & Chester. I would dearly love to meet some local Fruheads. I'll be there for 7pm and I'll likely be sporting a gray Fruvous shirt as an identifier. Hope to see you there! My friends Ellen and Chris got me onto Owen Meany (just telling me that it was surprising, but they would never reveal the ending - wisely...), and I LOVED it! If anyone hasn't read it, DO! I'm not that crazy about other Irving stuff, unfortunately, although I liked Garp. Now, for science fiction, no one has mentioned Ray Bradbury. I'm not up on a lot of science fiction, but I remember the Martian Chronicles more vividly than just about anything I've read - the cycles of discovery, settlement, and ruin tend to linger. They were just so darned human, yet mysteriously, silently NOT.
