I was driven to hear bell hooks lecture after her appearance on the song. I really recommend her, although her books were hard to find in my experience. And of course Margaret Atwood & Gabriel Garcia Marquez are both god. I think the point being made was that we would prefer shows that do not have to do with causes. It's one thing when you're paying to see a band, and the band gets your money. All Things Considered! Believe it or not, this is the very first time I have *ever* heard Fruvous on the radio. Ever. I am *so* psyched to have their voices emerging from that squat black box in the corner, from a medium other than my own CDs and tapes. They sound great, too. Of course, it's a bit odd to be hearing "I Love My Boss" first; not what I would have expected on a politically-oriented talk show. . . Aaagh! No! Are you serious? That's the problem with these things, if people use them wrong often enough they turn right. They got "literally"??? As it happens, I am a frothing at the mouth supporter of both of these fine rules. It is SO nice to know I'm not alone. Also, it really gets on my nerves when people think they are being grammatically in the know by using "badly" when they mean "bad". Long live the glorious struggle! I highly reccommed her ( and I read her stuff pre-hearing-MBLABOA ) The Mists Of Avalon (of course)by M.Z. Bradley and The Forever King by Molly Cochran and Warren Murphy was great. if you're into Arthurian legend. Wuthering Heights is a favorite, as is The Princess Bride by William Goldman. If anyone is interested in poetry to read, check out Pablo Neruda and Edna St. Vincent Millay. Well, that's my opinion, enjoy! ~Joni ------------------------------ Date: 14 Aug 1998 21:59:04 GMT From: dot0926@aol.com (Dot0926) Subject: Re: Fw: F&F for C (was Re: FruCon II) > ourhamster@aol.com (OurHamster) wrote: >I think the point being made was that we would prefer shows that do not have >to >do with causes.
