Looking for something to read during those Fruvous roadtrips? I'd suggest something by Rand McNally, but that would take away the adventure of driving to shows without directions. Shawn - -the smartass or dumbass, depending on how you look at it. PS- I will take a moment on a more serious note to plug one of my favorite authors, Spaulding Gray. I b'lieve it is, but if I've heered arightly, there may be other shows that weekend, which means there'll be plenty of Fruhead bonding/dancing time to be had at a non-political event as well. (let's all keep fingers crossed for other shows that weekend!) - -Zard "Veni, Vidi, Velcro" - I came, I saw, I stuck around. ------------------------------ Date: 14 Aug 1998 02:53:05 GMT From: zardsnod@aol.com (ZardSnod) Subject: Re: Books for Frutripping? Okay, this isn't exactly following the thread, it's more a plea for help, but... Has anyone ever had (or still have) a copy of The Abandoned, by Paul Gallico? It's about a little English boy who is hit by a car and goes into a coma. While he's there, he dreams he's a cat,and goes through the most amazing adventures. Every time I'd read it, I'd have trouble finishing the last chapters, trying to see through all the tears. But, I lent my copy to a friend, never saw it again, and now the book's out of print. If anyone has a copy, could I borrow it for one more read?? No Fruvous content whatsoever, just self-serving drivel... - -Zard "Veni, Vidi, Velcro" - I came, I saw, I stuck around. ------------------------------ Date: 14 Aug 1998 00:56:43 GMT From: dacilen@bu.edu (Vika Zafrin) Subject: Re: Fw: F&F for C (was Re: FruCon II) nafio@my-dejanews.com wrote: : Is FruConII definitely going to centre around the F&F for C show again? I : know it's considered horribly right-wing and all but going to that particular : concert is against my own personal belief system. I enjoyed FruCon last year : but it would have been nice to go to a Frushow afterwards with everyone. As far as I know, F&FFC is on the Sunday night of that weekend - Feb. 21st. Presumably, FruCon II will be on Saturday the 20th. Fruvous are planning to play one concert on each night of that weekend, so you most definitely won't be Fru-show-less. :) - -- Vika [VEE-kah] Patron Saint of Caffeine dacilen@bu.edu "Every little child learns, if you can't see dreams your eyes are blind." -MF ------------------------------ Date: 14 Aug 1998 02:48:38 GMT From: aditu525@aol.com (Aditu525) Subject: Re: Books for Frutripping? >1)Fantasy/SF: anything by Melanie >Rawn (especially the Dragon Prince >and Dragon Star series), Issac Asimov, >Piers Anthony, Douglas Adams or >Robert Lynn Aspirin > > Aahhhhh. A person after my own heart!!! To this i must add Tad Wiiliams (his Memeory, Sorrow, Thorn trilogy is my all time fav!!), Terry Goodkind, Anne Logston, Anne McAffrey, Brian Jaques, and Mercades Lackey. Robert Jordans's Wheel of time series is good...but LONG!!!!! I'm going to wait until he finished the series before I continue, which may not be unitl I retire!! Also, I've recently discovered Tom Robbins. He seems like a very Fruvesque type author (from what I know of Fru from interviews and the like). I've been meaning to ask Jian if he has ever read him. Also highly recommened (makes you take another look at the world type book)!!!! Ok I'll stop now...could go on for hours!! Apparently, they didn't think I worked in TV news, because when I told them my occupation, that's when I had to pull over for a background check with their computers. So maybe they didn't like something baout your answer, you were the lucky 18th random person, or maybe the border guard just had a bad day. In any case, these folks are just doing their jobs.
