Now I've found a little bit and wonder why the reporter even bothered. And I quote: "The massive street party wrapped up last night with musical performances by the Wild Strawberries, the Waltons and Moxy Fruvous.....The weather held up beautifully." Obviously the reporter didn't hang around. You all know what happened to the weather. Sure, the rain was brief but jeez. I'm not sure the Wild Strawberries ever performed. It was after 8 when we left the area for food which would mean if they did perform they were over an hour late. I loved Sleepy Drinker right off, more than any of the other new ones, which had to grow on me. Like a lichen. *grin* Well, no, except Pisco, which may be the most positive reaction I've ever had to hearing one of their new songs for the first time; it's so cute! So, here's a question from someone who knows little about singles & stuff. I didn't even realize what singles *were* until about three years ago, and I've never owned one. What do y'all think about "I Will Hold On" as a single? Would it get a lot of airplay? Would that be *good* for Fruvous? Or would it just pigeonhole them again? Are singles normally sold with another song or two as part of the package; and if so, is that song always another "new" one, or would they want to put something on from a previous album? I'd feel more comfortable with the idea of "I Will Hold On" being released as a single if it were backed with (?) something totally unlike it, such as Pisco Bandito. Not that I'm biased or anything. . . ceecee ------------------------------ Date: 10 Aug 1998 16:52:35 GMT From: affannat@mail1.sas.upenn.edu (Kelly D Affannato) Subject: Porn stuff removal Thanks SO much to the NG admin for getting that crap out of here. This is not a review because I was on vacation and just enjoying the great music and people and city and everything...(and I'm too tired to really remember details) although I will say that Friday night was amazing! The how had numerous new songs (pisco bandito, sad girl, i will hold on (all of which I hope to see on the new album)) and some songs which I haven't heard live (ala lazlo's career and darlington darling...). A big thanks goes out to nafio (fiona) for helping us get to the concert on friday, I'd probably be wandering aimlessly even now if it weren't for her help. I'd like to thank all the people that I finally got to meet this past weekend, fiona, ingrid, hkatherine (probably messed the spelling up...duh!), mike, misty, mary, brandie (you better post *wink*), katie, jen, amy, my buddy starfox, rosemary, chris, vika, christine (how could i forget a fellow buffalo fru), novac, mirimum ... ah the list goes on and on (actually, I am quite taxing myself here for the meager sleep that I have gotten this weekend so if i have forgotten you, I really haven't... make sense, doubt it...). Not that I'm biased or anything. . . I don't know if making "I will hold on" as a single would pigeonhole Moxy again, I typically look at singles as a way of owning the one hit a band would produce without the committment of buying the entire album(but that is just my opinion). I could imagine "I will hold on" getting a lot of airplay, it has a really catchy tune and would be pretty accessable to the masses. Singles nowadays are rarely just one song on a disc. At least the singles that I have seen and actually purchased. (hey, the Jeremy single disc was worth it, Yellow ledbetter kicks ass...). If I were going to package it as a single though, I'd probably have the studio cut of the song, a live cut of the song, something different (probably not pisco since it could be something that might warrant its own single), maybe Laika(but I am biased since its one of favs. from bargainville)? The singles that I see these days are typically have like 3-5 songs on them.
