Sorry if I'm being thick -- I know someone will : straighten me out -- er, um, I mean, provide me with correct information! : ;) Thanks! The song about Rush is "The Greatest Man in America" and it is on the 'b' album. As for what Laika means, I'm not sure. The dictionary defines it as: "A dog belonging to a group of Asiatic breeds of the spitz type, characterized by a pointed muzzle, pricked ears, a stocky body with a thick, rough, grey, fawn, white, or black coat and a tail curled over the back." Just from that, it's tough to see the connection but further research uncovered that Laika is also the name of a dog the Soviets sent into space, so I think that's where the cosmic references come from. - - jordan - -- It's so simple to be wise. Perhaps we're just curious about people whose outwardly visible self confidence in their own sexuality is more obvious than their sexual preference. It's certainly more interesting than the labels we throw around so casually. << It seems that the question of the artsts preference has come up on every list that I am on: Fruvous, Dan Bern, Dar Williams, and Indigo Girls. Well all but one, which is Patty Griffin - and there the question came up as to whether she was very close to the gay community or homophobic because she uses the words queer and faggot in two of her songs. I wonder if it is something about music lists in general or about the artists I listen too. It seems very odd to me. Anyway, count me in with the "who cares/please don't ask" people. - - Harry _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Where did you send email to? moxy@passport.ca? Maybe try calling. There's contact info on FDC (under Contacting Fruvous) with a phone number. Hopefully it'll all get straightened out. Or maybe there's some Colorado law about importing Canadian goods and there's a huge pile of stuff right on the border with Kansas just piling up, waiting for the law to be repealed. Or maybe I'm just silly! - Chad PS So, I didn't post the phone number in case someone culls usenet for phone numbers and calls them soliciting. I wonder if that is actually something people do. When I was mailing a fruitcake to my father from Ottawa last December, the clerk assured me that it had no chance of arriving until January unless I was willing to pay for Express service. No fruitcake is worth that.) Yes, laika *is* a breed of dogs. In direct translation, it means "one who barks" ("lai" = "barking"). Additionally, it is (or at least used to be) one of the most common dog names in Russia.
