The Philly show at the TLA which got recorded for Live Noise was the most excellent show I've seen yet and a lot of that was the audience. It is just amazing being around 1000 people who know what is going on. They were silent during Fell in Love (and I mean completely silent), they laughed at the funny stuff, they even patiently listened to Jian talk about Some Kind of Wonderful for over 15 minutes (enjoying a little sit before Raja). It was the most incredible thing. The only thing that comes close is a theatre filled with Indigo Girls fans all singing the music right along with Amy and Emily on stage. That was incredible too (though it would have been even better if my seat wasn't in the second balcony). I would guess that they've played for awhile now in Philly and the town has just sorta gotten the clue. XPN helps out a lot. And maybe Philadelphians are just better people than the rest of us. I was a big Trip Shakespeare fan in college, and was able to work with Semisonic for two releases while at Uni (MCA's distribution company). I'll second that they've been working so hard, and I'm happy they're finally achieving some success. That being said, I personally like their last CD better, and cee, I'm making tapes this week, so I'll make you a Semisonic tape...expect it sometime this month! First off, does anyone know what time Fru will be performing, or is "late afternoon" as close in Fru-time as it going to get. Secondly, would anyone be so kind as to tell me how to get to this wonderful festival once I get on to the QEW from the border (small note, this is my first drive to Toronto, so I'm a bit paranoid ^_^). thank you, friendly fru folk ^_^ Amy "It's not forbidden to be what you are. Well, I just switched the subject over...it was originally "Is Jian Gay?", if you recall, and since that's an unimportant question overall, I thought I'd switch it to a statement of fact. - --Novac "It's is not, it isn't ain't, and it's it's, not its, if you mean it is. I don't think he's surly at all. I've been to a total of 6 Frushows and I've seen Jian out with the fans after every one of them. He also seems to make an effort to be friendly and remember fans as he was able to recall my name AND spell it correctly after 6 shows, which is more than I can say for my relatives after 26 YEARS! What I think is that he makes a special point to come out after shows to interact with the fans, regardless of whether or not he really *feels* like it on any given night. I have to give him credit, so kudos to Jian for being so great about it all. Thank you! And I bring THREE KIDS to frushows! I'm ... A N C I E N T. doddering! argh! help! I've fallen and I can't get up!!! Actually, Mike referred to Izzy (Isadore) Schwartz at the King of Prussia show; he's a concert violinist, now retired and in his 80s, and he loves the band. (He jammed with them at a for-pay Toronto gig they did in hungrier times.) So I'd say they're a band for young and old alike.
