The first few times I heard the song, mostly only registering the chorus I was like, man, that's GOT to be about nuclear disarmament...I always still end up thinking that even though it's nowhere in the lyrics. The first time I heard "Get in the Car" was live & the segued into it so smoothly from the banter that it was a long time before I found out that it wasn't actually about truancy... just my experience. It's an overall review of the band, and quite flattering, IMO. I've always seen a double metaphor in the horseshoes in that song. Traditionally, they're a symbol of good luck -- something you'd want to hand out and share with your friends (and lovers). But as in the game, horseshoes "have got to be tossed" -- you're not allowed to keep them, regardless of the good intentions of the giver. Oh, and this is my first post ever to this newsgroup. I've had both my mom and dad go to a Moxy show...my dad went to the one in Buffalo on Oct. 4, 1997 and my mom went to the one in Rochester on Nov. 8, 1997 -- they both had a great time. =D My dad's favorite part was the "Drinking Song" and was upset when he couldn't join in 'cuz he didn't know the words. :( My mom, however, wanted to hear more songs off the "B" Album, in concert. :) Christine. - --Chrissy_K on irc ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #165 ********************************************
