["Demetriou, Melanie" I used to work in a record store and it was >our decision not to sell things >with the warning labels on it to minors -- not >the record company's ...some parents actually thought at this time that it was a law - when the labelling was a voluntary thing done by the record company -- with pressure from this parent's group -- to inform the public of some offensive things found on the CD or tape. It was difficult to convince the parents that it wasn't a law because it was highly publicized at that time. In the beginning we sold the CDs and tapes to minors with the warning labels on it -- until we started getting some trouble from the parents -- then we started to proof when they would buy them to save us from all the headaches. Now this may have changed in recent years -- but I haven't heard anything about this. I know some readers of the NG work in CD stores now -- what are the policies there regarding this? I'm wondering if anyone else is planning on traveling as well and wants to split a hotel room and maybe transportation, or if anyone on here lives near the area and has some crash space to lend. Let me know if so! Also, anyone know what time the show starts? I've always thought concert T's for any band were pricy, but not only are Fruvous' shirts great quality, the profit goes mostly to the guys themselves (I don't know the profit margin, but I'd imagine selling a few shirts puts gas in the tank for the next show). I'd say it's the best way of giving a financial "thank you" to the band (they make more from them, and it's good advertisment!) Plus, $25 Canadian is around $17 or $18 US, which is cheaper than the typical $20 concert t-shirt. I typically think nothing of wearing my "Your New Girlfriend" shirt around, but last weekend I went to a movie in Huber Heights, OH wearing it. My belief is that a "right" is something that belongs to everyone, rendering subgroups, lobbies and special interest factions unnecessary. The rights contained in the Consitution apply (theoretically) to everyone of legal age. If a group starts petitioning for a "right" that they want to apply just to them, then what they're looking for is a "privilege," not a "right." An elected legislature can only be as representative as the people who showed up to vote. And if the elected officials spent more time looking out for the actual rights of *all* citizens, rather than pandering to whichever lobby happened to be yelling the loudest that day, well, we'd all be better off. I myself vote for people that generally don't get elected. That's okay though. I'm a participant in the system and do my share to make it work. That counts for something. Plus, I'm registering my opposition to the status quo. That also counts for something.
