Everything else is environmental. Woooof! Where's your evidence for this? I'm not saying I do or do not agree with this statement, but for every eminent psychologist you can quote as asserting that everything is environmental I can find an equally eminent one who asserts that everything is instinctual. Anyway you could (if you were an atheist biologist, for example) argue that *all* behaviour is determined by survival and reproductive urges, leaving `everything else' as a rather small set. And if I was wanting to start another thread even more off topic than this one (no I don't!) I could always question the equating of reproductive urges with sexual attraction, and where that leaves homosexuality... My comp is a pretty lackluster little guy and I'm having troubles reading the Harborfest web page so if anyone could give me a preformance time(for Fruvous) and band line up(openers etc.) I would be forever in your debt. - -Erich the Mountain Fru Guy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jul 1998 12:47:34 GMT From: cricket5@hotmail.com Subject: Re: Burlington, VT 7/17 > Meanwhile, I was losing my voice, coughing uncontrollably (sorry if I > bothered anyone :( ), and feeling faint. Hmmm...well, thanks for asking ;-) Between being pulled over by the police not once, but TWICE (one warning, one ticket) and getting to see the sunrise (while still in Vermont), it was actually a really nice drive. Beautiful mountains. *grin* > > around and chat and pulled a vanishing act. We're planning to see the > Syracuse show so we'll hopefully see some of you there (we'll be > looking for you, Mary!). > Great! I'm looking forward to seeing y'all too. I'd add something of a review, but everyone else has done a much better job than I would. It was a unique experience being in the front row where the stage was so low. I was eye level with Jian, right behind his monitor. Adam was right, it is VERY difficult to watch them all from this position, but there is *NOTHING* like being that close to the bass when Murray's playing some great little bit. My second listens of "I will hold on" and "Pisco Bandito" were fabulous. "Pisco" is way too much fun :-) and "I Will Hold On" is just absolutely gorgeous. For the rest of the weekend, my mind wandered back to both songs quite a bit. A truly relazing, wonderful weekend. It was so nice to meet a bunch of new people too. I hope to see you again soon. And the only thing that would be unconstitutional about it is the trespassing. (sp?) But, back to the original argument. Susan made the point that it's the record label that places the stickers on the records. So if the artist feels that it's censorship for the warning stickers to be placed on their record, they're free to go find another label, or do the promotion/distribution themselves. I was talking to Mike at the Burlington show this past Friday, and telling him about this thread that's evolved, and he was surprised and interested. He told me that Fruvous expected _all_ of their records to have warning stickers on them, they knew it was coming and were okay with it, and that he was very surprised to find out that some of the Live Noise records did not carry the stickers. He also made a general comment on the stickers, saying that as a father (he has a step-daughter, Jacqueline) he likes the idea of them. So there you have it, straight from the parent's (and Frulad's) mouth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vika [VEE-kah] Zafrin Patron Saint of Caffeine dacilen at bu dot edu aka Coffee Fru "You and your hula dance of culinary delight..." -ceecee ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #125 ********************************************
