BUT now i am also planning on going to NYC for new year's. the problem? my budget can't handle +ACo-2+ACo- trips in a month. i can afford a greyhound ticket out to ithaca, but what i need is for some kindly ithaca soul to take pity upon me and offer me a lift to +ACY- from the greyhound station, and if it's not too TERRIBLY much to ask, a little section of floor to lay my head at night. the second part of my request involves, of course, utica/clinton. i need another kind kind person to give me a lift from the utica greyhound station to clinton, where i may be able to find a cheap motel room. or if there's also anyone there who would let me crash....... i can't tell you how much i would appreciate that. i will give my firstborn to ANYONE who wants to help me out. if you can help PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know........ you can either post to the group, or to me personally. my home e-mail is bnl+AF8-gordon+AEA-msn.com and my work e-mail is HelgothB+AEA-den.americanfronteer.com I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED+ACoAKgAqACoAKgAqACoAKgAqACoAKgAqACoAKgAqACoAKg- thank you thank you thank you thank you...... - -- over 'n' out xoxoxo bridget (o: 'He who laughs last didn't get it..........' ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Nov 1998 01:00:34 GMT From: katiewow@my-dejanews.com Subject: Flash Photos (Was "Good people") As an actor who has been the victim of flash-blindness and almost fallen off- stage and died because someone really needed a picture of me playing a fountain in the Music Man (when I would have been happy to recreate the moment after the show--but that's totally irrelevant), I can completely understand where Jian is coming from. It's not really just an issue of being irritated--it's an issue of safety. Someone on a stage with spotlights in their eyes can't see anything that's more than five feet from the edge of the stage, but they can see the edge of the stage--and they /expect/ spotlights. Eyes adjust to spotlights pretty quickly, but flashbulbs are not only several watts brighter, but totally unexpected, and can instantly blind someone. So don't think Jian's just being picky about the flash thing--it really is a matter of safety. He (or any other member of the band) could fall over cords, bump full force into mic stands or instruments, or even stumble right off of the stage in these moments of blindness. I know it's really great to get pictures of the guys doing their thing, but try to find a film and shutter speed that will allow you to take flashless photos of the boys. If all else fails, I dare anyone to name a band (Barenaked Ladies notwithstanding) whose members are more willing to have their picture taken once off stage. So be kind about the flash thing. There's a really good reason behind it. ~~KatieWow - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #1013 *********************************************
