He took the refill portion of it and started playing with it, I went back to my desk. He comes back a few minutes declaring it was fixed, and he hands me a piece of paper with ink smeared all over it. It looked like one of those Rorschach (ink-blot) tests... and immediately I see a maple leaf and blurt out "Moxy Fruvous!!" He shakes his head and says, "no, it's a hummingbird... ok, a fat hummingbird... ok a fat, dead hummingbird... oh never mind..." so I ask you, is this the sign of someone obsessed? - -Angie ____________________________________________________________________ More than just email--Get your FREE Netscape WebMail account today at http://home.netscape.com/netcenter/mail ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 15:01:19 -0500 From: "jafu" Subject: Re: Speaking of Haiku (Baltimore 11-10 review, long) >There was a great bit when Dave first strapped on the accordion and tried to >get Cal to adjust his levels. Oh, don't try to spark another nationalistic debate. Fact is lotsa people are dumb everywhere. If you don't think there are large numbers of idiots in Canada too, note that Brian Mulroney actually won a majority government....Twice. Politically, probably, in math, who knows? In years of education, I'd definitely take that wager. Yeah, and men on average have larger cerebelli (pluralised correctly?) that Women. Irrelevant to education levels, or intelligence in most cases. And lastly, *please* don't quote an entire message if you're not using it, it wastes time and makes people think, "Jeez, that's dumb. But hey, most people are." Just a thought. At the Rochester show there was an anouncement before the show asking people to please refrain from using flash photography. Several people took flash pictures anyway, and then Jian asked the audience to please stop. Even after that people kept using flashes. This annoyed the hell out of me to the point where I went patrolling for the flash user positioned somewhere behind me with the intention of insisting that they stop or I would take the camera away and give it to Tobey till after the show. I didn't find him/her (to my husband's relief). Why would anyone who likes the band enough to come out and pay for a show choose to ignore their request and annoy them like that? Of course, this was the show that someone chucked a broken battery at Jian and cut him... I feel bad that Lynne had a bad experience with Früfan(s), in general this is a very friendly ng and people tend to have a lot of respect for each other. Nancy Hi... I'm new to the newsgroup so please excuse my cluenesses and blunders. I've been reading the past few days and felt I had to comment. I'm from Rochester (well, originally from Buffalo, but that's another story), have been a FruFan since summer of '97 and I was at the Harro East on Thurs past. It was a strange crowd to me, and I have to say I had some less than pleasant experiences. There was a group of obviously underage and obviously obliterated teenagers that were bumping, staggering, falling and leaning into me and my friends, and this was before the FruLads actually came on. I completely sympathize with the "no flashes please," I do a lot of musical theatre and nothing breaks your concentration more than flashing lights scattered around a room. Between that and the flying battery, I started to get a little upset and offended... Offended because Mr. Battery-chucker gives Rochester a bad name. I applaud and am greatly appreciative of the guys (especially Jian, who got hit) for going on with the concert. I'm sure the thought went through their minds, and the general reaction could have been, "thank the a$$hole with the battery for ruining your night, we're not performing." Tobey and I joked on Sat about there not being a "Frufan Mold," but in actually there is, sort of. A generally good-humoured, good-natured, fun-loving, witty, generous and friendly kind of attitude (along with a love for non-convention). Sometimes I'm inclined to agree that there should be an 18+ cut-off (ok, compromise... 18+ for evening gigs, free for all for in-stores and festivals). I'd hate to think that obnoxious fans might one day drive Moxy away. thanks for listening (ok, reading...) Angie p.s. - on a completely unrelated notion: After Thurs and Sat I've got Sahara and No No Raja stuck in my head, and last night I dug out my dumbek to play along. I've noticed that I'm hearing different rhythms than before (better speakers?), and didn't know if it was the recorded "looping" or just that my ear wants to hear familiar beats. Anyone have suggestions, notation, comment or otherwise? - -A ____________________________________________________________________ More than just email--Get your FREE Netscape WebMail account today at http://home.netscape.com/netcenter/mail ------------------------------ Date: 10 Nov 1998 20:18:03 GMT From: kdsinthhal@aol.comatose (KdsInThHal) Subject: Re: Fruvous Tape Request there's a new song to add to the list of rarities...
