Perhaps in the northeast you might be able to find them in stores. I got my copies via www.cd-now.com. It's a canadian site, so if you don't mind being charged canadian dollars (still shows up converted to american $'s on your statement). Real set lists are pretty balanced and have definite sections to the show. If you take a real hard look at Live Noise, it's layed out like a show as well. I really liked the opening of the Your New Boyfriend shows. That was Acapella Message -> Poor Mary Lane -> Doorstep. All those are really great musical numbers. Currently, the guys are opening with Jam->Sahara->Jockey->, but without the big slide that takes the Jam into Sahara, I don't think this can be duplicated on a mix. I'd definitely not open with Fly. It's a good 4th or 5th song once you want things to slow down, but I'd open strong with something full sounding. Maybe Michigan Militia... Eh, why not just buy them Live Noise and then you wouldn't have to think so much *grin* - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Jul 98 00:06:33 GMT From: chad@radix.net (Chad Schrock) Subject: Re: question for a knowledgable fruvous fan In article <6oe6lt$okt$1@fnord.dfw.net>, Starfox spoke forth: >J E Jacobs wrote: >: I'm a pretty new fan... less than a year. I tried cd-now.com (and several variants) but none of them had DNS entries. cdnow.com has "Live Noise," "Bargainville," and "You Will Go To The Moon" for sale, but not the others. They also have an interesting 'click here for other titles you might like' thing. After clicking there, they thing that I would like: *Fastball, "All The Pain Money Can Buy" *Dave Matthews Band, "Before These Crowded Streets" *Barenaked Ladies, "Stunt" Bogmen, "Closed Captioned Radio" Massive Attack, "Mezzanine" *Ani DiFranco, "Little Plastic Castle" Jim Infantino, "World of Particulars" *Corrs, "Talk on Corners" <------ *very* good CD Eric Clapton, "Pilgrim" Largo, "Largo" (I own the ones with the *s next to them, so I guess their album advisor is pretty good. Then again, I do have some pretty far ranging musical tastes. :) chad ------------------------------ Date: 14 Jul 1998 00:35:44 GMT From: gorbitron@aol.com (Gorbitron) Subject: Re: Talking Heads, and repeated band seeings (was Re: nyc!!) >What's the other David Byrne movie? To add my two cents, I completely agree with Ofer that "titanic" is Jim's best work yet. Of course, my second favorite is "Strawman" (mostly for the studio version of "Stress"), but I digress.. :-) I've only had a chance to see Jim live once, without his band, here at the U of Michigan. I was there only because I had heard him do a live spot on Dr. Demento, and he performed "Stress" -- easily one of the funniest songs I've ever heard -- and I was hooked. His name appeared on a poster on campus, I happened to notice it, and my evening was free. So I went. And was blown completely away. He was intelligent and hilarious, performed for just about ever, then took a break to hawk his own CDs out of a little "Case Logic" CD-holder and drink some water, and came back for a second set that was every bit as long as the first. Of course, I bought all three CDs that evening (it helped that he was offering an "I'm Sensitive to the Student Plight" special... $15 for one, $25 for to, $30 for all three :-) ) As for obtaining the live album, I found it in a record store in Ann Arbor, so it's around.. if you've got a national chain nearby, and all else fails, they should be able to order it for you (but you might hafta ask them to search under both "Jim Infantino" and "Jim's Big Ego", since both are on the cover :-) ) -Joe ------------------------------ Date: 14 Jul 1998 01:55:12 GMT From: Starfox Subject: Re: question for a knowledgable fruvous fan Chad Schrock wrote: : Do you mean cdnow.com? That's the canadian version of cdnow.com *grumble* Too similar names. :) Starfox "transliteration? I thought it was rather lame. I do like much of "Wood," but unlike "Fly" or "Horseshoes", the lyric to this ballad was pretty weak. Best line of the night was Mike's during the Minnie the Moocher song (Grandpa Fruvous): America will finally show some World Cup spark Just as soon as they annex Cuba, Brazil and Denmark ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #93 *******************************************
