Hopefully it won't return. I would like to thank you, and everyone else involved in the gateway, again, for all your work to make the newsgroup available to those of us who didn't have/couldn't get access before. DejaNews was a reasonable short-term solution, but for me, the mailing list is *way* better. So, many thanks, and keep up the good work! :-) Melanie ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jul 1998 20:04:58 -0400 From: "MTKeener" Subject: Re: Cuss and shout!!! >... Well, I'm not a die-hard Frühead on par with most of y'all, but I've seen the boys twice in concert, and they were two of the best concerts I've ever been to anywhere, so I definitely plan to hit as many more as I can, given the dictates of my lifestyle. See, I'm not much of a clubgoing type - -- I hate smoke and noise, and I don't drink, so I only go to a show when I know I'm gonna love the hell out of it. Consequently, I don't really know what the etiquette is concerning getting autographs, meeting the band members after the show and so forth. Would anyone here mind expounding briefly on these elementary principles of fandom? Also, the next time I go to a show, how can I get a Frühead card back-punched to reflect the two shows I've already seen? - -- "I wish EVERY day could be a shearing festival!" -- The 10 Commandments =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Keith Ammann is geenius@albany.net "I notice you have a cloud of doom. I'll check it out.... It seems like a problem with the project.css stylesheet from what I can tell. I hit back a couple times from the 404 and it picked it up. Is the style sheet there? If it isn't maybe drop that HTML line... Anyways, I'm using Communicator 4.05 and I get the 404 the first time, but I can hit back until it comes up okay. Hope that helps. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jul 1998 13:53:00 -0500 From: Chad Maloney Subject: Re: Etiquette? Would anyone here mind expounding > briefly on these elementary principles of fandom? I *love* expounding, so I guess I'll expound a bit. And since I wouldn't have gotten to talk to the guys after my first show if I hadn't learned from the ng that it was okay, maybe it'll help some folks out. The guys regularly come around after the show to hobnob, sign autographs, and general meet-and-greet with the fanage. That rapport it seems they form with the entire audience during the show doesn't just turn off when the show ends. At a given night, they may not all come out, but usually some/most/all of them do. All four of them are, get this, real people who like meeting people. They are amazingly decent with names that are usually pretty close to what your actual name is (though two of the guys swear my last name is Mahoney). I highly recommend sticking around and talking to the guys if you want to get to know them more or ask them questions or make fun of them. Don't be scared of them or anything. Just think of something to talk about and do it and you'll be surprised how well it turns out. To make a long expoundation summed up in a sentence, it is perfectly fine to stick around and talk to the guys after the show, if you want to do it. I think they know by now that if they aren't in the mood for dealing with loads of new people all trying to get their attention, they'll just stay away. If they come out, they are coming out to sign autographs (usually armed with a Sharpie) and talk to people. Okay, that wasn't a sentence, it was a couple. > Also, the next time I go to a show, how can I get a Frühead card > back-punched to reflect the two shows I've already seen? Well, I don't think you'll be able to get a *Fruhead* card backstamped, but a Frumiles card, much more likely. Toby (Dave Toby - roB! Johnson look-alike and all-around nice guy) has been really great about back-stamping for me. I brought my ticketstubs though. If the show was ticketless, it may be a little harder. But try anyway, just to talk to Toby. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: 10 Jul 1998 01:27:48 GMT From: dot0926@aol.com (Dot0926) Subject: Re: jeopardy well, my friend elana ( my first fruconversion!) just emailed me that she was playing trivial persuit game, and she got the imfamous lowest highest point question, and proceded to crack up and scream, much to the misunderstanding and confusion of her gamemates....:) - -nora ************************************************************************** ******* " there's something exciting about the failure of modern technology to create a real looking fake human." - john linnell nora cohen (dot0926@aol.com) **************** ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jul 1998 20:55:12 GMT From: "Jennifer Williams" Subject: Re: HARBOURFRONT SHOW I saw the show last night as well! What a great show the guys put on (but hey, what's new!) I was able to bring some friends of mine. They were really impressed with their lack of proudness (is that a word). What I mean is, they aren't so full of themselves (like most bands) that they pretend they aren't humans that make mistakes. They just carry on giggling and ribbing each other about it. Something just occured to me! Do the boys orchestrate the foul-ups to make it a more interesting and audience-grabbing show? Is it possible that they knew Murray would mess up that line? Oh no!
