It's a relatively nice place, but it's right outside a huge refinary, so it probably isn't as picturesque some of the places your co-worker has in mind! In Sherwood Park, the average citizen's knowledge of Moxy Fruvous begins and ends with the "King of Spain", of course. ("What?! You mean they've done more than just that funny song back in '93? Inconcievable!") Still, I've had reasonable success in my mission to convert friends. I've lent out Bargainville to a fair number of people, and that album has always perked interest. However, sometimes people hit a brick wall once they get to Wood. Four times I have gotten the album back from a person with a rather blank look on their face! (Sigh...I don't understand it...Wood is my favorite album!) But I have two complete newbies lined up to go to the Edmonton show with me in September (provided they come to Edmonton, but that's another story) so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully I will do my part to increase Moxy's fan base exponentially!:) That's it for now; this post is already rediculously long. Thanks to all those who responded to my first post-I can tell this is a friendly newsgroup! -----Gabby----- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Jul 1998 19:40:34 -0600 From: "Gabby" Subject: Re: hey now! Last semester in my French class, my friends and I would work a bit of the song into whatever skit we were doing at the time. It usually resulted in us getting a higher mark! Our teacher was especially impressed when I sang the verse with the sexual references in it. "Umm...Gabby...do you actually, er, understand what you just sang?" I assured her that I did, but I didn't have the heart to tell her that I had looked up the lyrics on FDC, and not painstakingly translated them one late night in my living room!
