Also, as a side effect of the gateway mailing list, we've gained another archive. smoe.org makes digest form archives of all the mailing lists hosted there, available by web. That pretty much sums up my impression of last Saturday's show. What an experience. Since other people have given pretty complete summaries of the show, I'll just give my reaction. When I arrived at the show, I was a bit apprehensive. I feared that I wouldn't "get" the show because it was my first one; for example, I wouln't know what and when to scream during audience paricitpation songs. These concerns disappeared soon after the show began. I can honestly say that this was THE most fun concert I have ever attended, TMBG included(To be fair, I have only seen 2 TMBG shows.) I could really feel the energy shared between the Frulads and the audience. The culmination of the experience was duning the Drinking Song. When I was there, arms on the shoulders of other fans all singing along, I felt a great sense of kinship that will not soon be matched. I plan to attend many more shows in the future, and I hope to see some of you. - --Jamal P.S. (It DOES feel good to use that in an actual context!...) Glad you got here and glad you posted! Where in Alberta do you live? As a province, it's one of my co-workers favorite spots on earth... Have you been successful in converting friends?? As others have said, fruvous.com (FDC) is your up-to-the-minute source of tour dates, misc. band/fan info. and what-have-you. Moxy Fruvous Headquarters gets info to FDC as tour dates are confirmed, so that's where you'll find things showing up. Good luck!! I've been feeling guilty about all the shows near me (although happy I could make it to so many) - glad you're liable to be the recipient of a Frushow. And just think - the more folks western and central Fruheads can bring to shows, the more likely you are to get more shows!! :-) - -Zard "...And I'll stay off Verlaine too; he was always chasing Rimbauds." - Dorothy Parker, "The Little Hours" ------------------------------ Date: 1 Jul 1998 03:49:55 GMT From: zardsnod@aol.com (ZardSnod) Subject: Re: Ramshead >There is a parking lot directly off the exit >from route 50, it is in a brick building across the street from the Ramshead. > >Zard? Off Route 50, follow the signs for downtown (ie: Historic Annapolis). I follow signs to the Tourist Information area or center or whatever. Basically, you exit to the right off Route 50 (heading from DC) and follow that for a mile or two. When you come to some traffic lights and the Statehouse and some other official, old, brick buildings are in front of you, the road splits in two. Take the right fork, but stay in the left lane of the right fork, because the road sort of splits again, and you follow it left. There's a parking garage right there on your right, and I've NEVER had trouble finding an available parking space there (but of course, I've only visited the Ramshead in winter, when Annapolis isn't exactly hopping with tourists). It's a paying lot, but take your ticket w/you and you can get it validated. Exit the garage toward a little courtyard, and there's a walkthrough to a cute street. The Ramshead is just about directly opposite. *disclaimer - these directions are purely on memory. I have a good one, but... - -Zard "...And I'll stay off Verlaine too; he was always chasing Rimbauds." - Dorothy Parker, "The Little Hours" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Jul 1998 04:05:17 GMT From: Ofer Inbar Subject: Re: Question about the Mail-News Gateway "Jason A. Every new message received from news that goes out to the list, gets added to the queue waiting for the next digest. When a new digest is sent out, it includes all of the messages waiting in the queue, and the queue is cleared. A new digest is sent out whenever *either* of these conditions is met: - There exists an article in the queue more than 1 day old - The total number of lines of text in the queue is greater than 250 Practically speaking, the second condition always triggers before the first one has a chance to. That would change if, say, I upped the number of lines to 2000 or something large like that. I can change either of these numbers if people think they're not ideal as is. In fact, Jason can change them too - I gave him the password :-) -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@leftbank.com cos@cs.brandeis.edu -- The Left Bank Operation -- lbo@leftbank.com http://www.leftbank.com/ "A hacker is any person who derives joy from discovering ways to circumvent limitations." -- Robert Bickford ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #50 *******************************************
