Jian did his normal monarch stuff about the Marcos family and such, he then segues into talking about foods. He got to Cheese and promptly grinned and asked "Is it Mr. Cheese?" The crowd was tentative in answering and Jian took it back over. "No! But it's close. Oh so very close." He then promptly introduced the introduction. Anyways, full review possibly forthcoming depending on how time treats me. Oh, and Murray added in my favorite Hey Not the Beatles line at the show too. After Jian named off several Who songs that were written by the Beatles, Murray added in that the Beatles wrote Handel's Messiah. Ah, so funny. - Chad PS I'm having problems visualizing the basket ------------------------------ Date: 24 Jun 1998 14:24:55 GMT From: elrond@fellspt.charm.net (Matt James) Subject: Frumiles? Jay - Thanks for the info! There's no regular Fruvous e-mailing list that I know of, and their snail-mailings go out very rarely, and I'm positive that there won't be one before the Niagara show - they just had one in May. Their web site that people usually get referred to when looking for tour dates is http://www.fruvous.com - Fruvous Dot Com, and I already e-mailed your announcement to Chris The Webmaster this morning. :) Plus, he reads the ng. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vika [VEE-kah] Zafrin Patron Saint of Caffeine dacilen at bu dot edu aka Coffee Fru "You and your hula dance of culinary delight..." -ceecee ------------------------------ Date: 24 Jun 1998 18:54:32 GMT From: jenncyn@aol.com (JennCyn) Subject: Re: Fruvous Dream > Heehee!!! I'm SURE it was because we were drinking Luna beer!! (see the "Get > in the Car" video, if you can get your hands on it - that's the reference!) I have yet to see a Fruvous video, unfortunately, just little clips of some of the older ones. (anyone willing to trade for copies? :) The only Fru-dream I remember had to do with going to a concert -- this was long before I ever saw a show -- and being startled because I didn't recognize a single song. They were extremely odd. And why everyone in the audience had whistles and those weird plastic necklaces that glow when you snap them, I have no idea. ;) - - j ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 18:40:11 GMT From: wahrend@my-dejanews.com Subject: BNL on ABC's In-Concert In case you don't follow the barenaked ladies newsgroup, they're going to be on ABC's IN-concert (just make sure that you set your VCR, its on at 2:30 am here in Dallas). I figured I would tell you guys since most people I know who like Moxy are also BNL fans. Side issue (and actually relevant to this group), perhaps we might want to write to this show and to have them get Moxy on TV? I have no idea what Pennsylvania laws are like, but often 21+ isn't totally binding. The two Fruvous gigs I've seen were both in nightclubs, and I was 17 and 19, respectively, at the time. New York law seems to allow anyone to attend a show as long as they don't drink and are with someone over 21. Minnesota will let you in as long as you're with a parent and they sign a waiver. So there are potential loopholes. (Washington state, on the other hand, offers no such allowances. My mother went all the way to the liquor control board to try to get me into a show once, with no luck.) You might want to contact the venue, or get an overage friend and/or parent to do it, and ask if there is such a thing as a waiver. Don't give your name and they'll never know the difference if it doesn't work. ;) If all else fails, hope that they really will only check the tickets at the door! :) Good luck. - -- jenn ------------------------------ Date: 24 Jun 1998 19:33:09 GMT From: kpfruhead@aol.com (KPFruhead) Subject: Re: Pittsburg show >New York law seems to allow anyone to >attend a show as long as they don't drink and >are with someone over 21. Well.... it really depends on the club. I'm 15 and have been to the bottom line many times (always with parents), that isin't a problem with them. Other places, such as the mercury lounge, and the bowery ballroom (same stupid owners!) aren't nearly so reasonable. Take this, for example: The fruvous show at the BB this saturday is 18+, strictly. Meaning that they will let an 18 year old in who can't drink anyway, but *will not* let a 16 year old in *with parents*. I really don't understand the reasoning behind that (though if they can pull something that stupid, I really should question their ability to reason).
