The key to this dream is figuring out what songs were being played to appease our favorite city destroying, nuclear waste mutated, fire breathing reptile. Calm the inner struggle... Funny story. I didn't know a thing about the housemartins, I was : listening to BNL and decided I would introduce them to my older sister (shes : tres cool and is always on the lookout for good music). She heard the Happy : Hour lyrics and was like, "hey, thats the housemartins". After some confusion : she busted out london 0 hull 4 and after that I was jamming. Too bad that is : the only CD of theirs that I have, I need the 2 disc set but as with all the : music that I like, I never have enough fundage to support my addiction. _The People Who Grinned Themselves to Death_ is a good album that a friend of mine has, I enjoy it very much. I only actually own London 0 Hull 4, which I enjoy too. I think there's a song about sheep on there that frightens me a bit, though ;) I'm not sure what their other albums are named, though. I think they only had maybe 3 albums before they became the Beautiful South. I was very shocked to hear Happy Hour when I finally heard BNL's Hello City exclaiming, hey! they stole that from the Housemartin's song. - -Matt - -- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt James Voice: (301) 231-9898 x. 121 TYC Associates email: mjames@tyc.com Rockville, MD alternate: mattj@charm.net http://www.tyc.com - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: 22 Jun 1998 16:52:17 GMT From: dot0926@aol.com (Dot0926) Subject: Re: Fruvous/TMBG Cover? >Okay i knew there was a small thread on this...but it is a cool subject. What >song of TMBG would you like MF to cover?? ok, i have a few suggestions for a tmbg cover. i think fruvous would do a really great rendition of " nightgown of the sullen moon", which is my favorite tmbg song, so i am compelled to think that the lads would do it justice, "mammal" (complementing the science based songs like entropy, energy choices, efficiency, etc.) , "no one knows my plan"- it kind of has an i love my boss/ king of spain vibe i think. also, wouldn't tmbg's "dead" sound amazing in four part harmony lead by murray, with jian leading the "so i wont sit at home... " part? and of course, dave on accordian playing none other than " the famous polka" with all four lads chiming in on the "hey!" and mike singing the somewhat deranged end lead. ok, thats all for now. - -nora ************************************************************************** ******* " there's something exciting about the failure of modern technology to create a real looking fake human." - john linnell nora cohen (dot0926@aol.com) **************** ------------------------------ Date: 22 Jun 1998 17:50:10 GMT From: jsmooth69@aol.com (JSmooth69) Subject: Re: Fruvous Dream <> ::Thinks:: Some songs I remember "hearing" were King of Spain, Present Tense Tureen, Kick in the Ass, BJ Don't Cry, The Incredible Medecine Show, Michigan Militia, Horseshos, Fly and Nuits de reve. Anyways, after seeing the mention of the fru-head convention t-shirts (and proudly wearing my definition-t today), I thought we could generate some cool ideas for t-shirts. (perhaps this thread has been done before?) Here is one that I came up with. Black t-shirt with white letters "I'm with grampa fruvous" (on front) "You kids wouldn't understand" (on back) What do ya think? Hi all...this is my first post as a Fru-head :) I have to ask, since I'm getting really REALLY confused when I listen to Moxy Fruvous (well...actually, not confused...more like curious). Since I haven't been to a show yet (they don't tend to play in California, or so I've seen), I don't know what the guys sound like when they're talking...except Murray. He's pretty obvious ("Hail Murray, full of bass..."). Is there any way some very nice Fru-head out there could give me a general gist of who's who when they're talking? For example: I know, on "Lowest Highest Point", it's not Jian who's saying "I guessed Florida or Louisiana", since he's referred to right after...but is that Dave or Mike? And so on and so forth... Many thanks :) - -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/ Now offering spam-free web-based newsreading ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #18 *******************************************
