Moz, (et. al.) This is a fantastic idea that is 100% mathematically correct. However, think of the repercussions.... Aren't we all just a little annoyed to see other such "random" postings on this ng? And others? Granted, what you describe isn't "commercial" advertising per se, but advertising nonetheless. I *am* in favor of the penetration of Frudom into mainstream consciousness, but I disagree with the method. MLM by any means still smacks of sleazy salesmen, and though you may garner a few new fans it likely irritates an overwhelming majority of viewers. Is this the sort of image, dare I say, that we wish to project? Let the music speak for itself. I have personally "enlightened" 40+ individuals, about a third of which buy the CDs and go to shows, which I think is a fairly decent percentage; after all, as devoted as we are we must remember that Fruvous isn't for everyone. And do we want to be in the front row of a 300 seat venue or in the nosebleed section of some atrocious arena? Let us enjoy it while we can. The rest of the world will be along shortly. I was walking around New York City when Godzilla was attacking. Moxy Früvous started playing some songs and Godzilla stopped destroying stuff and began to dance around and stuff. it was pretty funny. I was all set up to tape the CBC broadcast of Fruvous when my reception on my stereo barfed out. I wound up getting in my car (no pun intended) and driving around until I found a spot where I could get the best reception. In short, did anyone get a good tape of it? Would you be willing to dub a copy for me? (Sarah, are you out there? Can you help me out... yet again?) I can send a blank and $ for return postage. I can also trade a copy of Fruvous on WCMF radio doing an interview in Rochester, NY. The whole thing fills front and back of a 100 min tape. Please LMK as I am looking to get a nice copy of the CBC show that just aired. Most cool, I thought! The X-files movie was pretty darn cool, too, it was a good evening. - -Matt - -- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt James Voice: (301) 231-9898 x. 121 TYC Associates email: mjames@tyc.com Rockville, MD alternate: mattj@charm.net http://www.tyc.com - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: 20 Jun 1998 21:26:09 GMT From: elrond@fellspt.charm.net (Matt James) Subject: Re: Fruvous/TMBG Cover? You the man! I : listened to that tape non-stop while I was in college - during my : "artsy-fartsy" period. You do know that BNL used this very line : you're quoting : in "Hello City", right? I enjoy what I've heard from them very much. By the way, the current incarnation known as the Beautiful South is made up of some folks from the Housemartins. I think Hello City is one of my favorite BNL songs (I'm not exactly sure how I feel about BNL's music, some I enjoy very much, some I don't care for very much) because of the Happy Hour reference. Oh, and they are from Hull, England, thus, I believe, the album title name: _Hull 4, London 0_. I don't think Hull really has a major football team, nor is there a London football club so I'm a bit confused by that album title ;) Do you know what Housemartins album "Caravan of Love" is on? I just saw the movie tonight. It really was cool. I think what impressed me the most was the scale on which it operated. Through it we travelled the world, fer gawd's sake! It looked like such an expensive movie to make (especially after years of seeing X-Files on a TV show budget). Yet my eyes did not deceive me--apparently it did cost $65 million. Certainly more money than I'll ever see in my lifetime. I have to say, though, that I would not recommend the film for people who are not X-Philes. I just don't think it would give the same thrill. It's full of inside jokes.
