We hired a company with great experience and competence, Borrego Solar, and they set us up with a way to break away from our dependence on the city's energy grid. Working on a new album, we feel satisfaction in the common denominator of together embracing the unlimited resource of the sun. CAKE is currently producing their sixth album of original songs. All the tracks will be recorded using 100% solar energy. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Jan 2009 14:50:41 -0800 From: Elaine Subject: Alloy: Happy New Year Hi, everybody. I just wanted to share a little anecdote. My girls spent time working on choreography for a holiday dance recital last month. Listening to the variety of music on endless repeat over a period of weeks, it occurred to me how little I have in common with other ladies of my age group, when it comes to music. Case in point: a junior level hip-hop class used the N-SYNC "Happy Holiday" song, and I found myself more than once amused and wondering why everyone around me *really dug* the music. I mean, they'd sit and rock in their seats, and sing along. I said nothing derogatory, of course. But to sing the praises of a song whose lyrics include, "it's a wonderful feeling; feel the love in the room from the floor-to-the- ceiling" as happy, awesome, and a fantastic reminder of their younger days, well. I found myself so glad that I'm part of a community which uh... how shall I put this. Has a higher standard when it comes to favorite music. ;-) Happy New Year! I'm glad you're all still here. It is the cementum that holds their sound together. Call me a musical elitist, but I just can't listen to the banal, pitch- corrected garbage on my kids' TV shows and other media. Blechh. jm On Jan 6, 2009, at 3:50 PM, Elaine wrote: > > Hi, everybody.
