Admit it. ;P I admit this: that I'm not the most musically-adventurous person in the world, so Radiohead utterly and completely got past me. I have a mild form of autism (I tend not to mention that because of the stigma), so the wrong music can completely overload my nervous system, so I have to be a bit careful. But I get it now: TMDR and Radiohead/Thom Yorke have two completely different styles, huh? And I guess maybe Radiohead is kind of an acquired taste? But I'm afraid of freaking myself out, so I dare not go there. I'm taking your word for it, Dennis! :^) TMDR is a great musical adventurer, so he keeps us all on our toes!! Peace, Kara [it was me who mentioned TMDR's previous satin-smooth mixing style] ```````````````````````````````````````` Hi guys! Sorry I havn't written in some time but I havn't even had time to read the hundreds of posts in my Alloy folder. ...Still here. I had to respond to these Radiohead posts as I am a hard-core fan of Radiohead and have been since I first heard their Pablo Honey album. Before I even found this post, I have had my entire collection of Thomas Dolby and Radiohead on my mp3 player since the day I bought it, last November. The last few months I have been finding myself buried in Radiohead quite frequently. (My life has been similar to "Wolf at the Door" as of late, particularly.) I love this remix! This is one that I can repeat for hours and hours and never even notice what the lyrics are saying. My head will just wrap itself around all the technical aspects of the piece, thoroughly disecting every nuance as the emotions slowly wrap themselves around my heart. (Well, that's how it works for me.) I love just about everything Radiohead has ever put out and if you knew their sound as well as I do, you'd know that their music, especially of late has been very experimental. Most of it is way too harsh for the average airwaves. I personally don't like harsh music, (as in choppy, full of distortion, clashing concepts, etc.) but somehow Thom (not to be confused with Thomas) can make NOISE that just takes me to wonderful and ethereal places. (I can hear many of you who've tried Radiohead and don't like them cringing at that with thoughts of "are you mad?" Well, maybe. My brain operates very strangely.) Every member in the band is an ARTIST. If I were ever to put a band together, I'd love to have the musicianship these guys have. Technically, emotionally, experimentally... in every way. wow. Being a geek, Thomas' music has always spoken to my heart, making pathways to my head, but the sounds Radiohead delivers speak directly to my, well, head, making pathways to my heart (if that makes any sense). Someone commented that Thomas' mix was not as smooth as we've come to expect from him. Well, of course not! He's mixing Radiohead! To me it just shows the musical genius and adaptability that is Thomas Dolby. I don't think Radiohead has ever released any song that is as smooth as this remix is. To be quite honest, I think a Thomas/Thom project would be way cool! The counterbalances there would just be absolutely fascinating to me. They're both techno-geeks to the nth degree. And with Thomas' smooth positive vibes mixed with Thoms experimental negative energy... wow! ...wow... Rochelle writes: > > Lol! Thanks, Melissa. > > I'm not a big Radiohead listener.
