The lurker speaks! ;) I only started listening to Radiohead recently, thanks to a friend who is a serious fan. I know, I'm seriously behind the curve. I wrote over on the Forum that I felt TMDR's use of the surf and seagulls* added a lovely layer to the poignancy and nostalgia over loss you hear in the lyrics. His mark is definitely on this mix, and It works so well. I've listened to it several times today and just *really* like it. Anyone else get a chance to listen to it yet? What do you think? `````````````````````````````````````````` What's with the drums? I'm another one who's never heard the original track [yes, I am ashamed--hanging head, hee hee], but I don't think that drum part works well during the quieter spots. If Thomas could have made them quieter somehow...is the original track fairly loud? Because that would explain it. It's as though most of the track is kind of a swirly mix of magenta and blue, but the drums are lime green!! I'm not gonna post that opinion anywhere *he* might see it, of course. He sure did better than I could have! I'm just used to satin-smooth mixes from him, that's all. I suppose he's just trying something new, hmmm? A little William Steffey-style three-dimensional soundscaping, perhaps? :^D Yep, computer working again. For a while, at least. Peace, Kara, opinionated for once...! ;^) `````````````````````````````````````````````` Melissa **Of course, that always reminds me of "Home Town" by Joe Jackson, too. :) "So sometimes when the music stops/I seem to hear a distant sound/Of waves and seagulls/Football crowds/ and church bells/and I wanna go back to my home town..."
