Ive added a review onto the Dolby forum but lets just say the night started with me accidently meeting Thomas o/s . cor blimey - so wifey managed to snap a piccy of me with Thomas. Unfortunately i was so suprised I never mentioned I was from Alloy and as my alloy hoody had failed to reach me due to the post strike in the UK , Thomas probably thought oh look a part time fan - aargggggggggggghhh - only joking I know Thomas isnt like that. The gig itself was brilliant - seemed quite a good crowd to me - 300 + maybe - but seemed enthusiastic and certainly seemed to enjoy the explanations of the songs etc. I was sad we didnt get Leipzig but he cant please everyone - but we did get (from what I remember ) - Airwaves,Europa, Hyperactive, Science, Karma, Brain like a sieve,Submarines, Airhead, Hot Sauce, May the Cube, The Flat Earth, a new one which sounded lovely, a dean martin cover and a special aka cover. poss missed some here. The Horn section were great. Overall great night out - at last ive seen him and met him what else could i ask for. Oh and if anyone else from alloy was at Manchester - I was near the front in a cream Thomas Dolby Astronaught & heretics tshirt - another lad beside me in one was my younger brother. Cheers all & thanks Thomas. - ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.virginmedia.com/email Virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software and scanned for spam ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Oct 2007 10:26:09 -0400 From: Merujo Subject: Re: Alloy: Manchester gig On 10/8/07, p1latham@ntlworld.com wrote: > > Hi guys, well I went to manchester last night and saw Thomas for the first time ever even though ive been buying his stuff since 1982. I'm so glad you guys had such a great time! Bummer your Alloy stuff hadn't reached you yet, but in the big picture, that's a barely a blip on the radar, considering you got to meet The Man. :) Nice that you guys got MTCBWY -- he didn't play that on the dates I saw here last month - bet that was a blast! How did you like the accidentally semi-ambient Submarines? Honest, I second what James said here and someone else said on the Forum, I would LOVE for that to be released!! I do like the new Submarines - but - if anyone has got the Salz Submarines remix album i think its actually similar to parts of some of them - no complaint because its one of my favourite Dolby tracks and i love it in any format - so I also would agree with a release. On another note I bought the new cd/dvd Sole Inhabitant UK release whilst at the gig last night - I do already have the US releases but for info. if anyone else is like me and a completist I would say get this as well - the packaging is superb & the inlay card includes pullout booklet with lyrics. Is that selfish or somehow petty? I don't intend it to be by any means, and I know he's quite busy. I just really liked what I heard at the gigs, that's all. - --James On 10/8/07 1:28 PM, "p1latham@ntlworld.com" wrote: > > Typical guess what turned up in the post at lunchtime today - my Alloy hoody - > 1 day late for the manchester gig - never mind. > > I do like the new Submarines - but - if anyone has got the Salz Submarines > remix album i think its actually similar to parts of some of them - no > complaint because its one of my favourite Dolby tracks and i love it in any > format - so I also would agree with a release. > > On another note I bought the new cd/dvd Sole Inhabitant UK release whilst at > the gig last night - I do already have the US releases but for info. if anyone > else is like me and a completist I would say get this as well - the packaging > is superb & the inlay card includes pullout booklet with lyrics. > > Paul. >> >> From: Merujo >> Date: 2007/10/08 Mon PM 03:26:09 BST >> To: alloy@smoe.org >> Subject: Re: Alloy: Manchester gig >> >> >> On 10/8/07, p1latham@ntlworld.com wrote: >>> >>> Hi guys, well I went to manchester last night and saw Thomas for the first >>> time ever even though ive been buying his stuff since 1982.
