What a pleasant surprise to hear a nice review -- and trip down memory lane -- about Steve McQueen and Prefab Sprout. The transcript -- and audio link -- to the piece is here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=14164968 Give a listen rather than read it, at least initally. There's something about hearing this guy lay the needle on his scratchy, poppy LP of Two Wheels Good that just warms my heart. Made me want to do the same thing. He's got some very complimentary things to say about Paddy McAloon and his tremendous talent. I have to admit, as I sat outside my apartment listening, I kept thinking, "C'mon... when are you gonna mention the fantastic production??? ?Donde esta the 'Dolby content'?" And the guy did not disappoint, wrapping up his piece thusly: "Twenty-two years after its initial release, this deluxe reissue of Prefab Sprout's Steve McQueen the original Thomas Dolby productions and the new acoustic reinterpretations never fails to surprise me, soothe me, intoxicate me and lift me." :) - -- "We all have ability. The difference is how we use it." -- Stevie Wonder ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V12 #131 ****************************
