He became one of the most recognizable figures of the synth-pop movement of early 80s new wave. http://www.livenation.co.uk/artist/getArtist/artistId/5093/ Hope this proves useful to the UK fans! Oh, the envy! If some of you fine UK peeps attend this one, I'll be so excited to hear your review. :) Re: the flooding in England - NPR interviewed a pub owner in/near Tewkesbury yesterday. She had opened her establishment to just about anyone who was stranded by the high water, so they had a dry place to sleep. I think she said she was down to about a dozen folks yesterday, although at one point, 60 people crowded in to stay out of the water. The aerial images of Tewkesbury Cathedral, like an island in a spreading sea, are so dramatic. Flood water has always terrified me, which is bad, having grown up on a hill a mile from both the ever-flooding Mississippi and Rock Rivers. I don't like water I can't see through, and I don't like what flood water usually carries with it. I feel for everyone caught up in the flooding. Big time. On a more amusing note, a squirrel attacked me in my car yesterday. I have officially written off squirrels as cute and harmless. Who's jamming out to the SxSW EP? I hang my head in shame to say I have not been able to procure a copy yet. What do folks thing about it? I was a bit dubious with some of the tracks being far from my favourites but have to admit they sound great - Its like they have been given a new lease of life. Secondly - thanks for the kind comments re probs here in England with flooding - personally speaking our area has managed to escape the worst so far (fingers crossed) but there have been some frightening scenes on local news coverage with usual quaint village streets now waist height in water - another frightening factor is that the weather forcasts predict further rain. Best wishes to any alloy in the worse hit areas. We have first hand experience of how fast flood waters can cause damage. In my hometown many years ago we had massive rainstorms followed by regional flooding . A person who owned a house my parents would later buy tried to cross a "low water" bridge in his truck. The flood waters hit the vehicle like a wall and he didn't survive the aftermath. It was horrible. I can't swim and have always had a fear of drowning so I like having homes that have a second story. As for the CD, I love it. I purchased the iTunes version immediately and am still waiting for the hard CD to arrive from CDBaby. It was supposedly shipped the day it was released. I guess it will be here soon. GREAT tunes and a fantastic buy on iTunes for $5.00. Merujo: a squirrel? Aren't those the cute little critters who destroyed a lot of your stuff in your mom's attic? Did you do something to irritate the squirrel gods in a past life?? :( Brian >From: Merujo >Reply-To: alloy@smoe.org >To: alloy@smoe.org >Subject: Re: Alloy: Live Nation info >Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2007 14:16:16 -0400 > > >Thanks for posting this, Mary! Bastard squirrels did thrash my belongings back home. This one totally freaked me out. But I'm making lemonade out of that lemon of an experience - I was in the middle of writing a radio piece about our local wildlife, and this gave me a great opening for it. I'm just glad the little freak didn't bite me! Impressive jump from the ground into the car, btw. Most impressive. Melissa - -- "We all have ability.
