In case you missed the word on the forum from Stevie D (you lucky dude) and a couple of other folks who braved the crazy East Coast weather to see Thomas play with Ethel on the 15th, the man did three tunes - Science, Flat Earth, and - this must have been really awesome - I Love You, Goodbye. Not only were Ethel's fine strings there to make that very special, there was a banjo! (Not quite a hubjo, as we all know, but wow!) What a lucky audience! Yesterday, Google offered up a link to a blog by a musician named Darcy James Argue, who leads a fairly new, but critically acclaimed jazz ensemble in NYC called "Darcy James Argue's Secret Society." Argue is clearly a Dolby fan, described TMDR's performance on the 15th as "he best thing about last night's Ethel Fair." I wonder if Thomas mentioned the forum/blog at the gig, as Argue is now hooked and has mentioned it twice in one day on his site. Still damn cold here, and my car is now on Day Three of being trapped in rock-solid ice. My goal is to have it unstuck by worktime on Tuesday, so I don't have to have another frigid, sad lonely walk to the bus while I feel my feet freeze in my boots. Sometimes I wonder how the heck I ever survived winters in Moscow?? Happy weekend, y'all, Melissa http://merujo.blogspot.com - --------------------------------- Finding fabulous fares is fun. Were any of us ever this young?) Two from the Joan Rivers Show, circa 1987, with a band and everything - Hyperactive and Science: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra8pcRWOI88 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVpLLmD98os (No lip synch, leather cap, and some really silly back-up singer girls, decked out in lab coats, sort of yipping through "Science!") "Good heavens, Miss Rivers, you're beautiful!" Oy! That was definitely a few plastic surgeries back!!! Enjoy.
