The avalanche they had yesterday on hwy 40 was a bit of a freak thing due to the high winds and heavy recent snow. The chance of getting hit by something like that is really low. Unless there is an active storm going on, you will most likely be fine getting there. - -Keith - -----Original Message----- From: owner-alloy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-alloy@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Patrick McMillan Sent: Sunday, January 07, 2007 7:58 PM To: alloy@smoe.org Subject: Re: Alloy: OT: Massive avalanche west of Denver Hey Keith and Beth, Glad you and your families are okay! There is a mild chance that I'll be driving from Denver to Basalt next Monday, unless the snow Gods frown upon such plans. Could you tell me please, if only a crazy person would attempt this now? Should I wait until March? patrick ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jan 2007 06:55:00 -0700 From: erik@habbinga.com Subject: RE: Alloy: OT: Massive avalanche west of Denver I didn't go skiing on Saturday due to an orchestra rehearsal in Boulder, but did on Sunday (to Copper Mountain). Someone in my car on Sunday did get "trapped" at Winter Park Saturday, and it took her 7 hours to get home. It took us 4 hours to get home from skiing yesterday, so she's now been crowned the "bad luck traffic queen". Erik ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V12 #4 **************************
