How's the rest of our Colorado contingent??? So scary, and so strange, considering our summer-like weather here today... it appears you are being punished with all our winter, too. - - Melissa Keith Stansell wrote: I'm ok FYI. We actually did go skiing and snowboarding that day, but nowhere near there (none of us are good enough yet to need to go that far for just the right quality of snow). Not surprising considering the mass quantities of snow we've been getting and the high winds on Saturday. However, I did ride up on the lift lines with one older gentleman who has been living here all his life who said that the Colorado winters used to always be like this. The most harrowing experience we've had so far was Friday, when my husband Mark was driving around in the snowstorm with the kids (taking a vacation day since their school was closed), then had both the snow chains disintegrate and the master brake cylinder fail on the car. But he even got through that just fine -- props to Mark and to the local Big O Tires who came through in a big way. And the high winds are continuing today and tomorrow, with more snow possible by next weekend. So we keep stocking up on milk, bread and eggs... - -Beth bethmeyer@mindspring.com Melissa Jordan wrote: > Very glad to hear you're okay! There is a mild chance that I'll be driving from Denver to Basalt next Monday, unless the snow Gods frown upon such plans. Could you tell me please, if only a crazy person would attempt this now? Should I wait until March? patrick ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Jan 2007 22:17:05 -0700 From: Beth Meyer Subject: Re: Alloy: OT: Massive avalanche west of Denver From what I've seen, the main roads are fine (except for the one that just got hit with the avalanche, of course). I would just keep an eye on the weather forecast to make sure you won't have to be driving in the middle of a blizzard - things do get a little crazy then! - -Beth Patrick McMillan wrote: > Hey Keith and Beth, > Glad you and your families are okay!
