I can't be too envious considering there are those on this list who have not seen Thomas live at all this year" Lunesse made mention in the forum that Thomas may be showing us the love with a podcase of Karma and Airwaves. That would be a great New Year Present! Happy Holidays everyone! I was thinking of y'all this morning as I boarded my Chicago flight. The plane was packed like a sardine can (or should that be "spam tin"?) After departing Chicago, the jet was bound for St. Louis, with a final destination of Denver. Everyone gave an evil chuckle when the first officer said, "Welcome aboard United Flight 1197, with stops in Chicago, St. Louis... and, theoretically, Denver..." I listened to a report from Denver on NPR en route to BWI, with a very sorrowful-sounding Frontier rep who said that, in some cases now, the first available flight for those who got screwed during the snow would be a week from now. Keith, I sincerely hope you're not among those numbers!! Listened to the Sole Inhabitant version of "Flying North" as we took off. This was my first flight since the blindness started, and now even the clouds look different to me. Not bad necessarily... just different. I was anxious about the flight - a very unusual feeling for me. But my mantra held true, and all was fine. Coming in over Lake Michigan, I had to listen to it again - the sky was so amazingly gorgeous - brilliant blues and clouds so perfect, it looked like a Maxfield Parrish painting. Below it, the lake had an almost unnaturally bright green sea hue. Had we been in the Caribbean, it would have seemed normal. But Chicago? In December? That beautiful, almost reverent new start to "Flying North" was perfect as we came in toward the shore. Of course, as soon as we landed, the skies turned dark and brooding, the "Lake Effect" wind whipped up and the reality of another Midwestern Christmas kicked in! Keith, I'm so sorry Mother Nature decided to screw up our lunch meeting! Hopefully, it won't be another ten years before we meet up again. :-) Off to bed. Have to be at the Field Museum at (god help us) 8:30 in the morning to see the King Tut exhibit. Normally, I'm a sucker for All Things Egyptian, but I've seen all these goodies before and I would adore a nice long sleep in a comfy hotel bed instead...
