What a treat that must have been for the folks in Jacksonville. I admit to a measure of envy, but I'm just so happy to hear he played it, plain and simple. Lighting candles and thinking good thoughts to hear that up north here... Today, we have the White House World Malaria Summit being held in our building. George & Laura Bush, Bill Clinton, a good number of developing world leaders - all here, which means we have a security nightmare on our hands. We're basically locked down in our offices, with secret service guys roving the halls. Getting a cup of coffee has never been more challenging... I kinda wanna grab somebody who was at the Jacksonville show by their lapels, and holler, "What did it SOUND like??!?!?" while shaking them vigorously, but of course I'd NEVER do that. I promise. I'm dyyyyyyying to hear what he's done with it, though. :^) Thomas seemed to have big 'issues' with 'Airwaves' a few months back when he wrote about it in his blog {yes, I have a freakish memory, hee hee}. He was emoting about how Trevor Horn said that 'Airwaves' could have been a hit had Thomas not f***ed up the first verse. Twenty years later, and Trevor's judgement still seemed to sting. Then Thomas was saying that 'Airwaves' was dated, and a product of its era, or something. My immediate thought was, "So FIX it!" ;^) And he finally did. Hooray!!!! (8:^) ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, > Lighting candles and thinking good thoughts to hear that up north here... ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I join my good thoughts to yours, gal!! :^D ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, > Today, we have the White House World Malaria Summit being held in our building. Here's hoping you get to hear it in Baltimore, Melissa. (And do be sure to give us the scoop!) I would dearly love to hear it, as it is one of my absolute favorites, but since we've had three Dolby shows in Colorado this year, I can't quite justify being envious of Jacksonville. On a side note, did anyone notice the "TD, the Good Samaritan" thread(s) on the forum? Apparently this woman went to the concert, had a few drinks, felt ill after the concert, and went outside to sit on the curb and get some air. Thomas found her, brought her some water, invited her into his tour bus to get in from the cold and recuperate. Whereupon she threw up in the tour bus. Twice. And he calmly cleaned it up both times and got her a granola bar and chatted with her. I didn't want to comment on the forum at risk of making her feel worse than she might already feel - or punish her for being so honest about it as to share the story on a public forum - but I was struck by two things: 1. What an incredibly kind person Thomas is, and 2. Now I really, really don't feel so bad about having left my camera in the tour RV! - -Beth bethmeyer@mindspring.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2006 21:40:07 -0800 (PST) From: Elaine Subject: Re: Alloy: Airwaves, etc. On Thu, 14 Dec 2006, Beth Meyer wrote: > On a side note, did anyone notice the "TD, the Good Samaritan" > thread(s) on the forum? This story illustrates to me that Thomas is most certainly a good dad. :-) And very kind, as you said.
