How does Michael like it? btw -- in case you who don't watch "House" (featuring Hugh Laurie on America's Fox TV network), Michael Penn's "Walter Reed" was featured in the Halloween episode. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Nov 2006 08:40:53 -0700 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: RE: Alloy: Thanks to Alloy Happy belated birthday to the pirate twins. Also, thanks for the MP tribute link. I'm a fan of MP, and so this will be cool to hear. I guess I should sign up to that mailing list. - -Keith - -----Original Message----- From: owner-alloy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-alloy@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Melissa Jordan Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2006 11:12 AM To: alloy@smoe.org Subject: Alloy: Thanks to Alloy First, thanks for the very nice b-day greetings, folks! From this side of the continent, I send appreciation (that I'm sure Elaine will echo from the other side!) Second - and my apologies if I've mentioned this before - back at the end of June, just a couple of days before my eye went nuts, in fact, I sent out a message to the Michael Penn fan mailing list. There are around 1,000 people on the list, several of whom are musicans in their own right. I told the group about the Dolby birthday music of previous years and I pondered if anyone on the Michael Penn list might be interested in doing something similar as a Michael Penn tribute. Well, from that one e-mail has sprung "Look What the Fans Drug In" - a tribute to Michael Penn. In four months, the group has worked to craft this project - we ended up with just around 40 MP songs covered by members of the group - pros and amateurs alike, complete with downloadable cover art. :-) I thought I'd share this with you, as the past exploits of Alloy served as the inspiration: http://tribute.onbunkerhill.com Pretty damn neat. :-) Cheers, Melissa http://merujo.blogspot.com - --------------------------------- Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo! Mail. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Nov 2006 22:13:55 -0700 From: Beth Meyer Subject: Re: Alloy: Thanks to Alloy Omigod! Once again, I pay the cost for being totally out of the habit of watching broadcast TV. First, I forget to check out or record the VH-1 top 100 whatevers that recently had TMDR in it (part of the problem was some uncertainty about what time it would be on here in Colorado), now this. I hear that House is good -- I think the first season is on our Netflix queue somewhere -- and that song has a perverse appeal for me. There was a time maybe six months ago when I was procrastinating and futzing around on the computer, and found the video of "Walter Reed" on the shockwave site. Checked it out, thought it was catchy, listened again. And proceeded to have that song stuck in my head for a WHOLE STINKING WEEK. Writing songs that are so catchy that they are such dangerous earworms should carry some sort of fine, I think (or at least require a license)! - -Beth Elaine wrote: > > Hey, that's a pretty cool tribute setup.
