Sorry to be late wishing you many happy returns, Keith. Glad you guys had a great time at the show, as well. I'll be turning 39 here shortly myself.. for real.. then I'll have to consider turning 39 again next year. Naa, everyone who's been there says 40 is nothin'. My mother-in-law said 50 was the real kick in the pants. Have a great rest of the week :) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Oct 2006 00:50:34 -0700 From: John McJunkin Subject: Re: Alloy: Happy Birthday to the Sole Inhabitant! Funny you say that, Elainie--my mother-in-law just turned 60, and sez it's completely painless (and she really is quite spry-maybe even a party animal.) My Dad turns 70 next March and my maternal Gram turns 96 this month. They're both also quite spry for their respective ages, and both claim that aging is no big deal. I s'pose it's a matter of perspective. We're all only as old as we feel. Look at TMDR--he was in his early 20s when he first started to succeed in the world of music, and now he is doing the same again. And he looks great and is clearly healthy. I'll bet a paycheck he feels as good now as he ever has. At 8 years younger than him, I only HOPE to be as chipper and full of piss and vinegar when I reach 48. Keep on choppin' TMDR (and for the love of Pete--PLEASE come play a show in the sands of Arizona. We've BRILLIANT venues, and numerous other reasons to visit. Happy Rocktober, everybody! Happy Birthday Keith! Wonderful dream Crackers! I dreamt of killer whales (their tales looking like Prince's symbol) dropping from the skies into deep waters and morphing into ocean liners. The arriving passengers were unsuspecting, Titanic style, that they would be assimilated. Lot of fun craziness these October nights. And I, too, find iTunes to be frustrating. Funny how often I feel as a pirate in my own home with my own recordings (and not the good kind of pirate, neither!) Warren I am having this strange problem with iTunes. I registered for an account with the Apple store, with PayPal as my set up (not that I actually buy anything.) But anytime I try to access the store just to listen to samples, iTunes keeps forcing me to try to re-register, accept terms again, and resubmit a credit card or PayPal info. Very frustrating, and I've accidentally set up PayPal accounts with them twice, just trying to hear damn samples. So much for Apple being user friendly. (The new version of iTunes also isn't allowing me to listen to stuff on my iPod at work.) Cracknell" wrote: Incidently I had the oddest dream last night... Love it. Just love it. My late brother Ed introduced me to the music of then-Walter Carlos when I was a very little kid. I thought that was the coolest stuff ever. My brother would screen our old home movies (the kind that always seem speeded up no matter what) with Switched On Bach and other great stuff as the soundtrack. When Ed died this summer, I wrote to Wendy Carlos, telling her how much he'd enjoyed her music throughout his life, and that he was still listening to her stuff right up to the end. (I also credit her work with getting me initially hooked on electronic music.) Wendy sent me the sweetest e-mail in response, which only served to raise her even higher in my estimation. Cool chick, that Wendy. Never thought of her in *that* way, though, Crackers. ;-) I was finally prescribed some chemotherapy anti-nausea drugs, and I'm taking some tonight. I have no idea what kind of effect they'll have. Let's see who creates a whacked out scenario in *my* sleeping mind... (Eeek!)
