I caught it in my car. It was nice hearing the live versions coming over the airwaves. It was a great show as usual. The stage was a bit low and limited in size with the video screen taking up the right 3rd or so. Thomas added one song since last time he played here: Hot Sauce. The Colorado Alloy Contingent (minus Eric) got to meet Thomas after the show. It was a nice casual meeting in a cramped RV serving as a dressing room. I'll have some pictures from the show and meet-n-greet up soon. I'm downloading them from the camera now. - -Keith - -----Original Message----- From: owner-alloy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-alloy@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Melissa Jordan Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 6:53 PM To: alloy@smoe.org Subject: Alloy: Did you catch the KBCO broadcast today? Pretty nifty - I was able to watch the webcam and listen online. Nice view of the back of TMDR's head. (Noggin cam?) Sounds like he was having fun. Hope he'll be having fun tonight with y'all out in Colorado, bundled up and jammin' out. The webcam wasn't working that well for me so I just looked at the screens I was supposed to be redesigning. It was really fun to hear, but also I think in hindsight it was a stroke of genius in terms of publicizing the concert. The concert was not promoted in the usual ways, so for a while, we were worried that the crowd was going to consist of about 7 of us die-hards who hang out on thomasdolby.com (waving our lit cell phones in the air and going "Woo!") and a bunch of bemused retail executives in fancy black clothes wandering by. (Emphasis on "black.") But apparently the folks putting on the event were swamped with calls about the concert after the on-air appearance, and there was a very nice and enthusiastic audience. Including at least one keyboard- and harmonica-playing mall merchant who was grooving right behind me. Oh, and there are better and worse ways to turn 40. Thomas put out a live album - excellent. Keith got to meet Thomas and get wonderful new camera equipment - good. Beth got a snowstorm and a migraine for her fancy party - oh, well, could have been stomach flu or a heart attack or something. Of course, speaking of the sort of thing that always happens to me, I was driving away from the concert and meet-n-greet last night in a blissful daze when that little voice of sanity started talking to me: now, where exactly did you last have your camera? I pulled back in to the mall, pulled over, searched the car seats, and with a sinking feeling realized that I had left it in Thomas' RV. So I had to go back and bother Lunesse and retrieve it from the security guys. So, after being a fan for 25 years and an Alloyite for ten or so, I finally get to meet The Man for the first time and I go and do something stupid. How embarrassing! - -a still-cringing Beth Keith Stansell wrote: > > I caught it in my car. It was nice hearing the live versions coming over > the airwaves. > > It was a great show as usual. Not embarrassing - it simply makes you even more memorable! :-) So neat to enjoy this vicariously through the posts. Very cool indeed! Funky Dolby reference at work this morning - we had a survivor of the 1972 Andean "Alive!" plane crash in the office to participate in a presentation tonight. (Today is the 34th anniversary of the crash.) A bunch of us were talking about this man - who willingly retraced his trek from the crash back to civilization on a National Geographic expedition - and, out of the blue, someone mentioned "The Wreck of the Fairchild." I swear, my jaw just about hit the ground. Have I mentioned I love my place of employment? ;-) Back to the sofa with me - my eyeball shot didn't go quite as well as usual today, and I am feeling like (and looking like) crapola. (So the Boulder posts have been even more appreciated this evening!!) I have got to cut down on my use of exclamation marks. They're like punctuation crack.
