While I realize that there are oscilloscope cards available for the PC that have wonderful digital rendering capabilities and even some freeware that turns your soundcard into an oscilloscope, I have always, always, always wanted a good ol' analogue oscilloscope. But even second hand they still tend to be rather expensive. Today I lucked out and found an analogue oscilloscope at the Value Village for $30. If it works it'll be an awesome find. If it doesn't work I can probably fix it. If I can't fix it, it will make one hell of a bitchin' case to build an analogue synth module inside. I'm walkin' on sunshine today let me tell you. No matter how it's sliced I come out a winner on this find. If it works it'll be infinitely useful not just for sound design but for my electronics projects. Oh joy, oh joy, oh joy! Yes, you are truly the King of the Geeks! All hail Crackers - King of the Geeks! That would be fun to play with. I haven't messed with a good old analog scope since my EET days at Louisiana Tech. I did use a portable digital one in a former career, but that's not the same - is it? Have fun. Oh joyous day! The oscilloscope I purchased at the Value Village functions perfectly. I would have made a cool case to build a synth inside if worse came to worst but as a fully functioning oscilloscope it's fan-freakin'-tastic. I am one happy geekboy right now. Is it a Fluke? > Advance Instruments OS1000A. Made in England, saddly not a really cool old vintage scope. Looks to be from the 80s. Works great though. I've been looking on Ebay, you can actually get some really old scopes (like the type Thomas gutted) pretty cheap. Unfortunately the shipping would be too expensive to send something that heavy to Canada. Bummer that. Crackers ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V11 #185 ****************************
