Groups. Folks there were so taken with the concept (lots of professional/semi-pro musicians) that we actually have people signed up to do virtually every song Michael Penn has ever recorded. MP is tickled pink with the idea, and I'm working the admin side of it. (I was going to contribute an a capella song, but since the deadline is coming up soon, and I need to work on re-learning how to read on a computer screen, post-surgery, I figured this wasn't the right time to stress over buy a microphone, the right software, and not sounding like crap in a recording!) So, you guys are to thank for inspiring and motivitating a whole different group of fans. Cool beans. :-) Cheers, Melissa http://merujo.blogspot.com - --------------------------------- Want to be your own boss? Learn how on Yahoo! I didn't until reading the blog today. How utterly cool. How is everyone spending the "tour hiatus"? Personally, I've had enough excitement for the summer, and I'm ready spend the next few months in some quiet place, protected by baby crib bumpers, honestly. :-) Hope all of you are healthy, happy, and getting revved up for the next round of DolbyFest 2006! The Mrs. has been wanting me to see Colorado for a few years - and since I proposed to her at a Flaming Lips NYE show and our first dance (wedding) was to a Ween song, this was a no-brainer/easy sell. If there's anyone on here familiar with the area, suggestions of things that are must sees/good record stores would be greatly appreciated. Also - I think this might be my first (intentional) post. I'm wontwa from the TMDR site board. Nice little group you got yourselves here. [IMAGE][IMAGE] > >How is everyone spending the "tour hiatus"? I decided to drive instead of fly for reasons that escape me now. I think it had something to do with buying a new car a waiting too long to book a flight. Luckily my new car is a Jetta Diesel - so the fuel costs didn't hurt too much at 43 MPG. I even put a bit of BioWillie Bio Diesel in the car in Dallas for that hippy feel-good environmental vibe. My parents live in the north east part of the state, so no bowling on Friday morning for me - It's a 5 hour drive from there to New Orleans. It was a nice week of relatives, food, nieces, food, swimming in the lake and food. I made some roadside attraction stops on the way back. The first was the Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Museum in Gibsland Louisiana. http://bonnieandclydemuseum.com/ The son of one of the sheriffs who shot Bonnie and Clyde runs the place. For $7.00 you get to see a short documentary including film his dad shot at the site, re-creations of the bandit's tomb stones, some of their luggage, and lots of newspaper clippings. The big attraction is the re-created "death car" used in the 1967 and later films. I also stopped in Oklahoma City at the National Memorial. The site is pretty, but sad when you look over all those chairs representing the people lost due to the bombing. It's hard to imagine what kind of emotion a memorial to 17 times that many people will evoke. To break up the trip on Sunday - I stopped at Prairie Dog Town in Oakley Kansas. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/KSOAKprairie.html After driving across Kansas, you'll just about stop and pay money to see anything different than the highway. It is quite the odd zoo they have there. I somehow missed the live 6 legged steer - I think it was lying down and I couldn't see the legs. The gift shop smelled of dead mice. I think one of the many rattlesnakes they have in a box didn't eat lunch - ugg. They even had badgers and I couldn't help but think of the flash animation - "Badger Badger Badger - a snake a snake .." http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com/ (makes sound - careful at work). No mushrooms though. Now I'm back in Denver. The cats pestered me all of Sunday night - but let me sleep last night. Hope all are well. Melissa - sorry to read about your eye. I hope the recovery goes well. Also - I never knew Thomas had a pilots license either - go figure. - -Keith (no longer the sole inhabitant) in Denver - -----Original Message----- From: owner-alloy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-alloy@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Melissa Jordan Sent: Tuesday, July 11, 2006 11:54 AM To: alloy@smoe.org Subject: Alloy: TMDR's blog Did any of y'all know that TMDR is a pilot?
